Covid-19 Update: Fri. 1st May 2020 – 34 Deaths – 221 New Cases

Curve has been flattened and is now plateauing, in the battle against COVID-19 virus pandemic.

From May 18th next, Ireland can slowly begin to reopen.

The number of virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Wednesday, April 29th last), have now increased from 415 to 468; an increase of 53 new cases, now confirmed over a 24-hour period. (98 new cases over a 48 hour period).

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 34 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,265.

A total of 221 new cases of the coronavirus have also today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 20,833.

However, in a briefing tonight, An Taoiseach Mr Leo Varadkar confirmed his government’s decision to continue current restrictions here in Ireland, to be extended until May 18th next. Mr Varadkar conveyed a five-step road map for how Irish society and the Irish economy can be reopened. These steps will be spaced three weeks apart starting on May 18th.

  • A 2km limit currently in place for exercise is to be to be extended to 5km from next Tuesday.
  • Schools to stay closed until September or October next.
  • From May 18th 2020, outdoor workers can return to their place of employment; while garden centres; DIY centres; hardware stores and repair shops can again return to gainful business trading.

Covid-19 Update: Thur. 30th April 2020 – 43 Deaths – 359 New Cases

We stated yesterday on Thurles.info, that we believed the number of new cases of the Covid-19 virus, shown for the county of Tipperary, were somewhat inaccurate and understated.
This is confirmed this evening; with the number of virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Tuesday, April 28th last), have now increased from 370 to 415, with a troubling 45 new cases, now confirmed over a 24 hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 43 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,232.

A total of 359 new cases of the coronavirus have also today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 20,612.

Covid-19 Update: Wed. 29th April 2020 – 31 Deaths – 376 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 31 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,190.

A total of 376 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 20,253.

Over 13% of cases have required hospitalisation, with 355 cases admitted to ICU. Over 12,222 people have recovered from the virus, while 1,164 cases have been discharged from hospital; giving a total recovery rate of 70%.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases confirmed; as at midnight on Monday, April 27th last, are reported as remaining at 370, with no new cases confirmed. However, from information received this evening, we believe these figures to be somewhat inaccurate.

Covid-19 Update: Tue. 28th April 2020 – 59 Deaths – 229 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 59 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from the virus, to 1,159.

A total of 229 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 19,877.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported has continued to increase. As at midnight on Saturday, April 26th last, cases confirmed were 370, an increase of 6 new cases over the previous day.

Nationally a total of 153,054 tests have now been carried out and over the past week, 41,470 of these tests identified 5,335 as being positive.

The National Public Health Emergency Team today were of the opinion that, as a nation, currently we are in no position to recommend any easing of current restrictions initially introduced to try stop the spread of the virus; latter due to lapse on Tuesday May 5th.

Sadly, our Irish TV channels appear to be giving more news time to the “Donald Trump’s” of Ireland, i.e. “professor” Mrs Mary Lou McDonald, leader of the “Bully Party” and that new leader of the “Famous Five”, (without Timmy the Dog), namely know-it-all “kite flying” Tipperary TD Mr Alan Kelly of the failed Labour Party.

Yes, we, the TV Licence paying public, would rather discussion with the National Public Health Emergency Team; Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anthony Holohan; Taoiseach and Physician Mr Leo Varadkar and Minister for Health Mr Simon Harris; latter group who are successfully attempting to get us through this unprecedented of times.

Covid-19 Update: Mon. 27th April 2020 – 18 Deaths – 386 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 18 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll from Covid-19, to 1,102,

A total of 386 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 19,648.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported, as at midnight on Saturday, April 25th last, is confirmed at 364, an increase of 18 new confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, Gardaí have announced details of their latest policing plan for the forthcoming weekend, in their action to prevent the spread of the pandemic. Operation Fanacht will begin at 7.00am tomorrow morning to prevent people travelling in advance of the bank holiday.

The operation will run from tomorrow morning until next Monday night, May 4th.
