A new series ‘Coronavirus, Explained’ has just begun, today Sunday April 26th, 2020; featured on Netflix, and must now be made essential viewing for everyone on our planet.

The first short episode in the series, explains how the coronavirus become a global pandemic in the first place, changing life as we know it today; and pointing out the necessity and importance for social distancing.

Interviewed medical experts and data made available in this first episode in the series provides a clear, informative overview of COVID-19 and what we know and continue to learn about this virus to-date.

The series narrated by J. K. Simmons, also explores various topics around the subject, while discussing the efforts to halt it.

This excellent American made, limited series, documentary is produced by Vox, which brought us ‘The Mind, Explained’ and ‘Sex, Explained’, is a spin-off of the television series ‘Explained’.

Covid-19 Update: Sun. 26th April 2020 – 26 Deaths – 701 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 26 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. The total death toll has now reached 1,087.

A total of 701 new cases of the coronavirus have also today been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 19,262.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported, as at midnight on Friday, April 24th last, is confirmed at 346, an increase of just 1 new confirmed case.


Meanwhile, we understand that Covid 19 testing may commence in Semple Stadium, here in Thurles over the next few days.

Covid-19 Update: Sat. 25th April 2020 – 52 Deaths – 577 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 52 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland.

The total death toll has now reached 1,063. This latter number includes 10 probable deaths, where it is suspected the persons who died had contacted the Covid-19 virus.

A total of 377 new cases of the coronavirus have also today been identified here in the Republic, thus bringing the total since conception to 18,561.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported, as at midnight on April 23rd last, is confirmed at 345, an increase of 2 new confirmed cases.

Covid-19 Update: Thur 23rd April 2020 – 28 Deaths – 936 New Cases

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 28 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland.

This confirmation brings the overall total number of deaths to-date to 794 [Note: 3 deaths which were previously reported as associated with the virus are no longer classified as being related to this pandemic.]

A total of 936 new cases of the coronavirus have also today been identified here in the Republic, thus bringing the total since conception to 17,607.

Here in Co. Tipperary the number of virus cases reported, as at midnight on April 21st last, has been confirmed at 327, an increase of 7 new confirmed cases.

Complacency is the new enemy”, warns Leo Varadkar

The caretaker Taoiseach Mr Leo Varadkar has informed the Dáil today, that there was a real risk that if everyone became careless or negligent with regard to social distancing, control could again be lost over the spread of coronavirus here in Ireland. “Complacency is the new enemy”, he correctly declared.
