Covid-19 Update: Sat. 9th May 2020 – 18 Deaths – 219 New Cases

Today, the Government launched their ‘Return to Work Safety Protocol’ intended for to allow workplaces to reopen once the current lock-down is lifted. Businesses that do not comply with these new safety protocols, aimed at haulting the spread of Covid-19, will be immediately shut down. Inspectors from the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) will have the authority, under the Health and Safety Act of 2005, to shut down any workplace that is viewed as being non-compliant under current regulations.

This ‘Return to Work Safety Protocol’ includes the expected regulations regarding social distancing, hand hygiene, first aid and mental health support, for all returning employees and business owners.

The government acknowledge that some of the new measures in this safety protocol may make some businesses unviable, but that health and safety must take precedence.

New virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Thursday, May 7th last), have risen from 512 to 515; showing an increase of a further 3 new cases now having been verified over a 24-hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 18 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,446.

A total of 219 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 22,760.

Covid-19 Update: Fri. 8th May 2020 – 27 Deaths – 156 New Cases

Current Covid-19 Trends Continue To Give Genuine Reason For Future Optimism

New virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Wednesday, May 6th last), have risen from 506 to 512; an increase of a further 6 new cases now having been verified over a 24-hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 27 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,429.

A total of 156 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 22,541.

Meanwhile, persons will lose their Covid-19 payment, if when offered their job back they refuse to accept it, An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has stated.

These series of payments were initially introduced by the Government last March, after businesses were forced to close their premises for health and safety reasons.

Details supplied by the Department of Social Protection show a total of 598,000 people are in receipt of the €350 per week Covid-19 pandemic unemployment payment.

Covid-19 Update: Thurs. 7th May 2020 – 29 Deaths – 137 New Cases

Current Covid-19 Trends Giving Genuine Reason For Future Optimism

New virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Tuesday, May 5th last), have risen from 501 to 506; an increase of a further 5 new cases now having been verified over a 24-hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 29 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,403.

A total of 137 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 22,385.

There remain nationally, in intensive care at this time, 76 patients with Covid-19, falling from a peak previously of 140.

Covid-19 Update: Wed. 6th May 2020 – 37 Deaths – 265 New Cases

The number of virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Monday, May 4th last), have risen from 486 to 501; an increase of a further 15 new cases now being confirmed, over the past 24-hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 37 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,375.

A total of 265 new cases of the coronavirus have also, today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 22,248.

Meanwhile, yesterday saw the lowest increase of cases; in total 211, since March 29th last.

Welcome news for overworked essential healthcare employees

From May 18th the Department of Children will oversee the provision of childcare in the homes of 5,000 essential healthcare workers. The cost will be paid for by tax payers, with a small parental contribution required of €90 per family per week; thus providing same essential healthcare workers with 45 hours of childcare per week.
Childcare workers volunteering for this scheme will be paid on average €15 per hour, while the taxpayer would also cover employer PRSI.

Covid-19 Update: Tue. 5th May 2020 – 23 Deaths – 211 New Cases

The number of virus cases confirmed here in the Premier County; (as at midnight on Sunday, May 3rd last), have risen from 478 to 486; an increase of a further 8 new cases now being confirmed, over the past 24-hour period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 23 people have tragically died from the Covid-19 virus, here in the Republic of Ireland. These latest figures bring the death toll, from this pandemic, to 1,339.

A total of 211 new cases of the coronavirus have also today, been identified here in the Republic, bringing the total since conception to 21,983.

The current rate of virus reduction can be seen as a good sign and should also give the public confidence that HSE and Government are on a road towards the complete suppression and eventual annilation of this pandemic disease.
