Thurles Roads Policing Unit have seized eight dogs believed to worth in the region of some €5,000 in Co Tipperary two days previously, on June 4th, 2020.
Shortly before 8:00pm Gardaí were carrying out a speed check on the M8 motorway at Ashill, Thurles when they observed a van exceeding the speed limit.
The van was stopped and whilst speaking with the driver Gardaí heard dogs barking in rear of the van. Gardaí searched the vehicle and found eight dogs; believed to be valued in the region of €5,000.
The driver and passenger were unable to give any explanation as to the ownership of the animals; latter which were not microchipped.
The dogs were then seized by Gardaí and placed in a local animal shelter. While investigation are currently ongoing, however, no arrests have been made to-date.

In order to comply fully with the COVID-19 related public health protection measures identified as necessary by the HSE; the Protocol should be used by all workplaces.
Employers, small businesses owners and managers will need to adapt procedures and practices as outlined by this protocol. Please note also, that workplaces may be the subject of inspection and the compliance of small businesses will be assessed.

Gardaí, here in Co. Tipperary, on last Saturday, seized in excess of 1,300 rounds of live ammunition, which were located hidden in a wood in the county.
The ammunition, wrapped in plastic covering, was located by a member of the public, latter out social exercising in the Bishop’s Wood(Irish: Coill an Easpaig) area of Dundrum village, Co. Tipperary; latter just 24 km (25 min. drive) from Thurles town. The area of the find is also close to an International Scouting centre, near the Tipperary village.
Gardaí were immediately alerted and a technical examination and search of the scene and surrounding area was carried out, to no further avail.
The total wrapped consignment contained three packages each in turn containing different calibres of ammunition, and have now been forwarded for technical analysis by Garda ballistics experts.
To date, no arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
The Garda believe the ammunition may have remained concealed in the Dundrum wood for some period of time, and indeed may date from the an earlier period in our troubled history; hidden by a then partially active IRA unit.
A male, understood to be aged in his 40s, was arrested yesterday; and has appeared court this morning, charged with a drugs offence.
The arrest and charge followed the seizure of €13,500 worth of suspected cannabis herb, here in North Co. Tipperary.
Just before 9:00pm last evening, Gardaí from Newport Garda Station, latter on Covid-19 patrol in the Shanbally area of Birdhill, spotted a lone parked car in a car park.
Following discussions with the driver; Gardaí carried out a search of the vehicle and located €13,500 of what is understood to be cannabis herb.
