Covid-19 Update: Wed. 11th Nov. 2020 – 2 Deaths – 362 New Cases

17 further new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 2 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,965.

There are 362 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 66,247.

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 17 are located in Co. Tipperary (Total 1,319 cases to date, per RTE summary); 90 in Dublin; 48 in Donegal; 34 in Limerick; 29 in Louth; 24 in Cork; with the remaining 120 cases located across 20 other counties.

Other COVID-19 News:
An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin has informed the Dáil that a high-level taskforce has been created to oversee the roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines in Ireland, once they are approved by the statutory authorities.

Worldwide research now indicates that people who have recovered from coronavirus infection have immunity only for up to six months. A study has found that after initial infection, immunity is sustained for at least two months and for some people up to six months. Genetic evidence further indicates that the first and second infections were caused by different strains of the virus.

Medical practitioners on both side of the border are calling for stricter controls to avoid people making non-essentials trips between Northern Ireland and the Republic, in an effort to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus in both regions.

Currently, there are 280 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 38 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).

Total global cases this evening, now stand at over 51.5 million [Global Cases – 51,621,135] with global deaths at well over 1.27 million [Global Deaths – 1,275,124].

Covid-19 Update: Tue. 10th Nov. 2020 – 16 Deaths – 270 New Cases

17 new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 16 further death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,963. However, of the deaths reported today, 14 occurred in November and 1 one in October, with 1 further case under investigation.

There are 270 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 65,889.

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 17 are located in Co. Tipperary (Total 1,302 cases to date, per RTE summary); 82 in Dublin; 21 in Donegal; 18 in Roscommon; 17 in Limerick, with the remaining 115 cases located across 20 other counties.

Other COVID-19 News:
There are 514 new virus cases in Northern Ireland over the last 24 hours, with sadly a further 11 deaths. Their death toll now stands at 802.

Currently, there are 282 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 40 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).

The European Commission is expected to approve a contract for the supply of the Covid-19 vaccine being developed by Pfizer and BioNTech, tomorrow, its President Ursula von der Leyen has stated.

Total global cases this evening, now stand at almost 51 million [Global Cases – 50,913,451] with global deaths at well over 1.26 million [Global Deaths – 1,263,089].

Covid-19 Update: Mon. 9th Nov. 2020 – 1 Death – 270 New Cases

16 new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 1 further death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,948.

There are 270 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 65,659.

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 16 are located in Co. Tipperary (Total 1,293 cases to date, per RTE summary); 103 in Dublin, 34 in Limerick, 20 in Donegal, 12 in Cork, 9 each in Kerry and Kilkenny with the remaining 67 cases located across 19 other counties.

Currently, there are 291 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 39 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).

Other COVID-19 News:
There are 471 new virus cases in Northern Ireland over the last 24 hours, with sadly a further 10 deaths. Their death toll now stands at 791.

Up to 8pm on Sunday last November 8th there were 36 patients confirmed with COVID-19 in Hospitals serving Co. Tipperary; 2 in South Tipperary General, Clonmel and 34 in University Hospital Limerick.

Testing on mink farms, located in Cork, Donegal and Laois are under way as part of enhanced surveillance implemented by the Department of Agriculture. This follows in the wake of a variant of Covid-19 virus being discovered on mink farms in other countries, including Denmark, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the USA, which we discussed in recent days.

Total global cases this evening, now stand at over 50.5 million [Global Cases – 50,591,307 ] with global deaths at well over 1.25 million [Global Deaths – 1,258,321].

Pfizer & BioNTech To Shortly Submit Covid-19 Vaccine For Approval

A vaccine, developed by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech, has been found to be more than 90% effective, in what is understood to be a major breakthrough in the fight to control the Covid-19 virus.

This vaccine could now be available for use by the end of 2020, subject to drug authorities giving it the thumbs-up. The drug is expected to be submitted to authorities for emergency approval within a matter of weeks.

While no vaccine is 100% effective, (according to the World Health Organization), this new vaccine, using novel mRNA technology, is understood to far exceed the US Food and Drug Administration’s criteria, when approving vaccine for use.

Covid-19 Update: Sun. 8th Nov. 2020 – 2 Deaths – 542 New Cases

7 new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 2 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,947.

There are 542 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 65,394.

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 7 are located in Co. Tipperary (Total 1,277 cases to date, per RTE summary); 181 in Dublin; 59 in Donegal; 50 in Limerick; 36 in Cork; 25 in Kildare, with the remaining 191 cases located across 19 other counties.

Currently, there are 283 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 39 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).

Other COVID-19 News:
There are 420 new virus cases in Northern Ireland, with sadly a further 7 deaths. Their death toll now stands at 781.

A new EU approach to air travel (“The Traffic Light System”) comes into operation here in Ireland from midnight tonight.
Passengers from green regions can enter the State without being expected to restrict their movements or undergo testing for Covid-19.
Passengers from orange regions who have a negative test result for Covid-19, same taken up to three days before arrival, will be advised that they do not need to restrict their movements.
Those arriving from red regions must continue to restrict their movements for a full 14 days.

The State of Texas in the USA is the first to surpass one million coronavirus cases, as the country battles a third wave of new infections and has recorded over 100,000 infections three times, in less than one week.
