A vaccine, developed by Pfizer and Germany’s BioNTech, has been found to be more than 90% effective, in what is understood to be a major breakthrough in the fight to control the Covid-19 virus.
This vaccine could now be available for use by the end of 2020, subject to drug authorities giving it the thumbs-up. The drug is expected to be submitted to authorities for emergency approval within a matter of weeks.
While no vaccine is 100% effective, (according to the World Health Organization), this new vaccine, using novel mRNA technology, is understood to far exceed the US Food and Drug Administration’s criteria, when approving vaccine for use.
