Covid-19 Update: Wed. 11th Nov. 2020 – 2 Deaths – 362 New Cases

17 further new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 2 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,965.

There are 362 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 66,247.

Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 17 are located in Co. Tipperary (Total 1,319 cases to date, per RTE summary); 90 in Dublin; 48 in Donegal; 34 in Limerick; 29 in Louth; 24 in Cork; with the remaining 120 cases located across 20 other counties.

Other COVID-19 News:
An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin has informed the Dáil that a high-level taskforce has been created to oversee the roll-out of Covid-19 vaccines in Ireland, once they are approved by the statutory authorities.

Worldwide research now indicates that people who have recovered from coronavirus infection have immunity only for up to six months. A study has found that after initial infection, immunity is sustained for at least two months and for some people up to six months. Genetic evidence further indicates that the first and second infections were caused by different strains of the virus.

Medical practitioners on both side of the border are calling for stricter controls to avoid people making non-essentials trips between Northern Ireland and the Republic, in an effort to contain the spread of Covid-19 virus in both regions.

Currently, there are 280 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 38 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).

Total global cases this evening, now stand at over 51.5 million [Global Cases – 51,621,135] with global deaths at well over 1.27 million [Global Deaths – 1,275,124].
