 Investigations are ongoing, following the seizure by Gardaí of the recreational drug (Diamorphine C21H23NO5), with an estimated street value of some €90,000. One man was arrested during this planned operation, which continues to successfully target the sale and supply of drugs here in Co. Tipperary and Co. Kilkenny.
The drugs were discovered by Gardaí when they intercepted and halted a car exiting the M9 motorway at the Knocktopher village exit at 11.00pm last night. The vehicle seized was then brought to Carrick-on-Suir Garda Station for a thorough search, at which time the heroin was located.
The arrested man, aged in his 40’s, was also the driver of the intercepted vehicle and is currently being detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act, 1996 at Thomastown Garda Station, Co Kilkenny. He can be detained in custody for up to seven days.
The seizure was conducted by Gardaí from the Tipperary Divisional Drugs Unit, assisted by detectives from Co. Kilkenny and members of the Armed Support Unit.
 Twelve people in the Munster region are being interrogated this evening, as part of investigations into alleged child sexual abuse.
The individuals were arrested by Gardaí earlier this evening, with Detectives and Gardaí carrying out a number of searches, which resulted in the arrest of the twelve individuals for further questioning.
Those arrested are being held in different Garda stations in both the Southern and Western Garda regions in relation to these allegations, with several of those being quizzed having previously been already arrested as part of this same ongoing investigation.
Strict reporting restrictions regarding this investigation remain in place, in order to protect any possible victims.
As part of an ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs within the Tipperary Garda Division, a vehicle was stopped and searched by Gardaí near Abbeyleix, Co. Laois, at approximately 8.20pm last night (16th August 2018).
During this search a quantity of drugs (suspected cocaine pending analysis) with an estimated street value of €50,000, was seized.
Two men aged between 30 and 50 years, were both arrested at the scene and are currently being detained here at Thurles Garda Station.
Both men are being held under the provisions of Section 2, Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 as amended. [Powers under Section 2. – Where a member of an Garda Síochána force arrests, without warrant, a person whom he or she, with reasonable cause, whom they suspect of having committed a drug trafficking offence.]
Gardaí are conducting searches in a number of houses in Co. Tipperary, including a number of premises in the Killenaule area, as part of their ongoing drugs investigations.
Gardaí in Cashel are searching for, what they believe is, a ‘serial masked raider’, who once again has threatened staff at a late night service station.
The incident occurred at 10.10pm precisely, on Saturday night last August 11th 2018, when a balaclava-clad gunman detained, at gun point, workers at a service station at Cashel Road, Cahir, Co. Tipperary. The raider grabbed what is believed to be more than €1,000 in cash, before leaving through the back door of the filling station.
Gardaí, examining the scene later, recovered an imitation firearm and a balaclava and believe that this ‘masked episode’ was similar to an identical raid carried out in this area in more recent months.
No staff member was injured in the incident and Gardaí at Cashel are now requesting that anyone who may have information, should contact them on Tel: 062 75840.
 Numerous Thurles individuals have received ‘Scam’ telephone calls today, appearing to emanate from a telephone number – 0015192537793.
The caller from this 0015192537793 number tries to convince recipients that they are about to receive a new Bankers Card. This particular Pakistan male scum-bag, who phoned my home 3 times today, is a particularly arrogant individual, insisting that he genuinely is an A.I.B. bank official.
Since I don’t do business with the aforementioned bank, he was easy to ‘play along’, and is presently trying to access my bank via an access code obtained from an old Advantage Card.
This is the very same ‘Voice Phishing’ or ‘Vishing’ scam being perpetrated that we have warned you about on numerous occasions in the past.
Please everyone, do keep in mind that no truly genuine person or business representative, from any financial business organisation or the Public Service will ever call and seek personal, private details or any other data, either over the phone or by email contact.
Do warn elderly parents and friends about this scam, as already many people have lost thousands of Euro’s after being asked to provide privileged data.
