Death Of Scottish Actor Robert Fyfe.

Robert Douglas Fyfe, a native of Kirkcaldy in Scotland; best known for his role as Howard in the long-running British sitcom “Last of the Summer Wine” (latter created and written by Roy Clarke), has sadly passed away, at the age of 90 years.

Mr Fyfe joined the long-running BBC show in 1985 and remained a cast member for 25 years until its final episode, played out in 2010.

Thurles.Info readers will remember “Howard Sibshaw” (played by Robert Fyfe) was Pearl’s (played by Juliette Kaplan) henpecked husband who was always trying to hide his passionate affair with “Marina” (played by actress Jean Fergusson).

Mr Fyfe’s acting career saw his appearance in the first episode of ‘Dr. Finlay’s Casebook’ in 1962. He was also viewed as the lollipop man “Malcolm Lagg” in ‘Coronation Street‘ in December 2012. He made further appearances in ‘Z Cars’, ‘Angels’, ‘The Onedin Line’, ‘Survivors’, ‘The Gentle Touch’ and in ‘Monarch of the Glen’.

His film credits include; ‘The 51st State’, ‘Cloud Atlas’ and ‘Babel’.

Mr Fyfe’s wife, Diana, had sadly passed away just a few weeks prior to his own, leaving behind three sons; Timothy, Nicholas and Dominic.

Sadly, also his co-stars Juliette Kaplan, who played ‘Pearl’, and Jean Fergusson, who played ‘Marina’, both passed away in 2019.
