A phenomenal crowd gathered in the Templemore Arms Hotel, Templemore, Thurles, Co.Tipperry, last Saturday night, to officially celebrate the re-election of Fine Gael Deputy Noel Coonan to the 31st Dáil.
Speaking at the evening of celebration, the local TD said he was “truly humbled” by the large audience who turned out and “wished to thank every single person in attendance who rolled up their sleeves in the election.”
Addressing the gathering Deputy Coonan stated: “I feel very humbled here tonight to have been given the opportunity to again represent this constituency and to be elected to the 31st Dáil which I believe will be a very powerful Dáil. But tonight is about you because you are the people who did the work for Fine Gael, for Noel Coonan and for the North Tipperary/South Offaly constituency. Each and every one of you rolled up your sleeves to ensure we got the response we were all praying for and it was very humbling when the ballot boxes were opened and our vote increased in every area. That is due to the efforts of Fine Gael Public Representatives, the Fine Gael organisation in this constituency and the good will of the public.”

We will all work hard as a team over the next five years so that Fine Gael will never again lose it’s seat in North Tipperary/South Offaly. Ladies and gentleman, this night belongs to you the people who have given us the mandate to represent you in Dáil Éireann and work hard on your behalf and for that we are really and truly grateful,” concluded Deputy Coonan.
 Enda Kenny & Eamon Gilmore
Tipperary readers, with more than a casual interest in politics, may examine at first hand the new Programme for Government by clicking here.
Our readers will be already aware that Fine Gael’s Enda Kenny, Ireland’s new elected leader and Labour leader Eamon Gilmore struck a partnership deal in the early hours of today following six days of negotiations. Both will form a new coalition government within the coming days that will demand a renegotiation of the EU/IMF bailout.
Mr Kenny’s first engagement, as Ireland’s new Taoiseach, will be the Extraordinary European Council meeting in Brussels on this coming Friday, where he will meet with other European heads of State.
A strong pledge in this published ‘Programme for Government’, is to restore immediately this country’s reputation abroad and attempt to negotiate improved repayment terms, following on from December 2010’s 85 billion euro EU/IMF rescue package.
The Department of Finance will now be divided into two sections under this coalition deal and the soon to be announced new Finance Minister will oversee budgets and taxes, while a new ‘Estimates and Public Service Reform Minister’ will take full control of the proposed overhaul of the public sector and future spending.
The parties have agreed to attempt no changes to this year’s austerity Budget and have accepted the need for a further €3 billion in further cuts and savings next year. We are promising that cost-cutting measures will be reviewed again in 2012.

The wedding took place yesterday in pleasant Spring weather of the very lovely Miss Kathleen Cosgrove, daughter of Mrs Anne and Mr Rodger Cosgrove, Killaloe, Co. Clare, to Mr Derek Ryan, son of Mrs Peggy and Mr Pat Ryan, Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary.
The wedding ceremony took place in the picturesque Church of the Sacred Heart and St Lua in Garraunboy, presided over by priests and family friends, Rev. Fr J. Grace, Rev. Fr P. Malone, and Rev. Fr L. Everard.
 Wedding of Kathleen and Derek
Escorted down the aisle by her father Rodger, the bride looked breathtaking in a slim A-line ivory evening gown with pleated skirt and full embroidered bodice.
Equally beautiful were her bridesmaids, Patricia O’Connor and Mary Cosgrove, both attired in full-length ‘Mermaid’ green, halterneck evening gowns.
The groom, Derek, together with his two groomsmen Seamus Farrell and Noel Ryan added further to the splendour of the occasion, dressed in dark grey evening suits, light grey waistcoats, and white wing collar shirts with silk cravats.
Also assisting the bride were Flower Girls, Ciara O’Connell and Tracey Burke.
The couple publicly declared their love for each other in front of a large gathering of family and close friends, while music and song for the ceremony was performed by extraordinary talented friends of both families.
Following the ceremony, the new Mr and Mrs Ryan retired to the popular wedding venue, the The Lakeside Hotel and Leisure Centre, over looking the picturesque towns of Ballina and Kilaloe, on the banks of Lough Derg, where guests were entertained to a champagne reception, together with a full assortment of other light refreshments.
Following family photographs in the beautiful grounds adjoining their chosen venue, the newly married couple joined their guests in the hotels Banqueting Suite, where a lavish dinner was enjoyed by all, followed by live music and dancing very late into the evening.
A video recording of the days events were undertaken by top videographer Mr Pat Corbett
The couple have chosen the Mediterranean Island of Malta as their favoured honeymoon destination.
To Kathleen and Derek go the good wishes of all their families members and many friends here in counties Clare and Tipperary, for a happy, healthy and prosperous life together.
My very special thanks to hotel receptionist Lynsey Molloy, employee of the Lakeside Hotel, Killaloe, for her kindness on the day.
