It is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, today Thursday 23rd September 2021, of Mrs Nellie Stapleton (née Quinn), late of Henry Laffan Heights and St. Mary’s Road, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Predeceased by her husband David; the passing of Mrs Stapleton is most deeply regretted by her sister Joan, niece, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains Mrs Stapleton will repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home, Killenaule, Thurles on Saturday evening, September 25th from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.
The funeral cortège, bearing her earthly remains, will be received into the Church of St. Mary, Bailey Street, Killenaule, Thurles on Sunday morning September 26th, for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment in Loughkent Cemetery, New Inn, Co. Tipperary.
For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mrs Stapleton, but are unable to do so, due to current virus restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

It is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, Wednesday 22nd September 2021, of Mr James (Jim) Molloy, Annagurra, Ballylanders, Co. Limerick and formerly of Ballingarry, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Predeceased by his sister Joan and nephew John; the passing of Mr Molloy is most deeply regretted by his partner Nellie Moroney, sister Sally (Ryan, Ballingarry, Thurles, Co. Tipperary), brother Walter, brother-in-law Martin, sister-in-law, aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Reposing at Fraser’s Funeral Home, Galbally, Co. Limerick on Saturday evening 25th from 6:00pm to 7:00pm, for family and close friends.
The funeral cortège, bearing the earthly remains of Mr Molloy, will leave Fraser’s Funeral Home, on Sunday afternoon to be received into the Church of the Sacred Heart, Lisvernane, Glen of Aherlow, Co. Tipperary at 12:30pm, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 1:00pm.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in Ballinacourty Cemetery, Glen of Aherlow, Co. Tipperary.

The Department of Health here in the Republic of Ireland has confirmed 1,355 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours.
There are 286 people in hospital, up 14 on yesterday, with 59 of these are in intensive care units, down 4 on yesterday’s reported figures.
School managers, primary teachers and SNA trade unions are meeting Department of Education officials to discuss the relaxing of close contact rules, in primary schools and early learning centres.
The meeting comes as schools and centres have received guidance telling them that if they become aware of a case of Covid-19 in a child or in an adult who has recently attended their facility, they no longer have to contact the HSE.
The positivity rate among primary school age children had seen a massive 14.5% rise during the last week of August, however by last week this rate has dropped to 5.2%.
In Northern Ireland their Department of Health has reported 1,165 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
There were 383 Covid-19 patients in their hospitals, 31 of these were in intensive care units. Sadly, also a further eight deaths have been reported there, during this same time frame.
Meanwhile, the EU’s drug watchdog, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), have stated that it expects to decide in early October whether to approve boosters of the Pfizer/BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for all people aged over 16. Protection against the disease is shown to decrease in the months following the first jabs, the head of vaccine strategy Mr Marco Cavaleri has informed a news conference.
Vaccination continues to offer the best protection against the most severe effects of COVID-19, including hospitalisation and death.
Robert Douglas Fyfe, a native of Kirkcaldy in Scotland; best known for his role as Howard in the long-running British sitcom “Last of the Summer Wine” (latter created and written by Roy Clarke), has sadly passed away, at the age of 90 years.
Mr Fyfe joined the long-running BBC show in 1985 and remained a cast member for 25 years until its final episode, played out in 2010.
Thurles.Info readers will remember “Howard Sibshaw” (played by Robert Fyfe) was Pearl’s (played by Juliette Kaplan) henpecked husband who was always trying to hide his passionate affair with “Marina” (played by actress Jean Fergusson).
Mr Fyfe’s acting career saw his appearance in the first episode of ‘Dr. Finlay’s Casebook’ in 1962. He was also viewed as the lollipop man “Malcolm Lagg” in ‘Coronation Street‘ in December 2012. He made further appearances in ‘Z Cars’, ‘Angels’, ‘The Onedin Line’, ‘Survivors’, ‘The Gentle Touch’ and in ‘Monarch of the Glen’.
His film credits include; ‘The 51st State’, ‘Cloud Atlas’ and ‘Babel’.
Mr Fyfe’s wife, Diana, had sadly passed away just a few weeks prior to his own, leaving behind three sons; Timothy, Nicholas and Dominic.
Sadly, also his co-stars Juliette Kaplan, who played ‘Pearl’, and Jean Fergusson, who played ‘Marina’, both passed away in 2019.

It is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, on Tuesday 21st September 2021, of Ms Mary Frances Wilson, Ballymoreen, Littleton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Formerly of Toronto, Canada and pre-deceased by her sisters Flora (Moran), Kitty and Donie; Ms Wilson passed away peacefully at St. Theresa’s Hospital, Clogheen, Co. Tipperary.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving sister Nancy (Rayel), brother-in-law Frank Moran, nephew Denis, nieces Deirdre and Catherine, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends in Tipperary and Toronto.

The earthly remains of Ms Wilson will repose at Devitt’s Funeral Home, Cashel, Co. Tipperary, on Saturday evening next, September 25th, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
Her body will be received into the Church of St. Kevin, Littleton Thurles, on Sunday, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 12:00 noon.
Requiem Mass will be followed by private cremation.
