Covid-19 Cases Reach 4,463 On Island Of Ireland Today.

The Department of Health has confirmed 3,428 new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours here in the Irish Republic; down from 3,685 on yesterdays reported figures.

As of 8:00am today, there were 478 patients with the virus in our hospitals; 34 more than yesterday, while the number of patients in our ICU’s has risen by 1, to stand at 75 in total.

The total number of possible deaths linked to Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland since the start of the pandemic stands at 5,492.

The Minister for Health, Mr Stephen Donnelly, has stated that the Government is considering providing subsidised antigen tests to the population. He also stated that it is likely that rapid antigen testing will be deployed to test the close contacts of schoolchildren, latter who test positive for Covid-19. Same if agreed could be rolled out before Christmas 2021.

In Northern Ireland their Department of Health has confirmed a further 1,035 cases of coronavirus, down from the 1,194 cases recorded on yesterday.

Some 4 more Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland on over the past 24 hours.

A total of 283,203 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Northern Ireland since the pandemic began, with the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19, since the start of the pandemic, standing at 2,751.

Enough people are NOT adhering to very basic transmission-prevention practices, hence the rise in Covid cases. Please do continue to keep yourself and your family safe by regularly washing your hands and wearing a mask when appropriate.

FSAI Recall “Donnybrook Fair” Tipperary Brie.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) have urgently recalled a batch of “Donnybrook Fair” Tipperary Brie, [pack size:155g; approval number: IE 1089 EC] due to the presence of E. Coli.

The FSAI are warning customers not to eat the implicated batch, as E. coli, at the levels detected indicate a possible hygiene issue and the potential for the presence of harmful bacteria which could result in severe stomach cramps, diarrhoea, and vomiting.

The use-by date of of the product is 17/11/2021.

Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers & retailers, are requested to remove the implicated batch from sale immediately.

A notice posted on the FSAI website reads: “The above batch of Donnybrook Fair Tipperary Brie is being recalled due to the presence of E. coli. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batch.

Covid-19 Cases Reach 4,879 On Island Of Ireland Today.

The Department of Health has confirmed a further 3,685 cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours here in the Republic of Ireland.

As of 8:00am this morning, 444 Covid-19 patients were in our hospitals, 19 fewer than at the same time yesterday. Of these, 74 are in intensive care units down 2 on yesterday’s reported figures.

The Economic and Social Research Institute reports that of people accessing restaurants, some 34% are not having their Covid Certs checked, and the Chief Executive of the Restaurants Association of Ireland, Mr Adrian Cummins has stated that he is ‘deeply concerned’ at the possibility of the reintroduction of restrictions on the hospitality industry. He is now calling for an increase in inspections by the HSE and the HSA and for sanctions to be introduced for those businesses refusing to do the right thing while dragging the sector down.

In Northern Ireland, their Department of Health has confirmed 1,194 positive cases and, sadly, six deaths in the past 24 hours.

A total of 215 cases of the newly identified Delta plus Covid variant, has been detected on the island of Ireland, health agencies on both sides of the Border have confirmed this week.

In the North the Public Health Agency (PHA) has confirmed 125 such cases, while 90 cases of this variant have been detected here in the Irish Republic.

Death Of Maryanne Commins, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Friday 5th November 2021, of Mrs Maryanne Commins (née Corbett), No. 16 Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formally “The Spa”, Turraheen, Rossmore, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her parents Paddy and Annie Mary, brothers Ned, Johnny and Bill, sister Josephine; Mrs Commins passed away peacefully at her place of residence after an illness most bravely borne, surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her adoring husband Ned, son Tommy, daughter Anne, her adored grandchildren Oran, Doireann and Diarmuid, son-in-law Sean, daughter-in-law Emer, brothers Mick and Tommy, sisters Nora (Lyons) and Teresa (Droney), uncle Michael O’Dwyer and aunt-in-law Bridie (O’Dwyer), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Commins will repose at her residence on tomorrow evening, Sunday, November 7th, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
Her funeral cortège will arrive at the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles, on Monday morning, November 8th at 10:30am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
Interment will take place immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mrs Commins, but are unable to do so, due to current virus restrictions; funeral Mass can be viewed online HERE.

Covid Spread In Tipperary Local Electoral Areas Over Selected 14 Day Period.

What has been the Covid-19 spread in Co. Tipperary local electoral areas over the past 14 days?

Between the period October 19th, 2021 and November 1st, 2021, the following number of cases have been confirmed in each of the Co. Tipperary local electoral areas: –
Thurles 54; Clonmel 71; Roscrea – Templemore 82; Newport 83; Cashel-Tipperary 117; Cahir 174; Carrick-On-Suir 167; and Nenagh 228.

Note: In the week ahead, it will be interesting to see if the numbers relating to the spread of Covid, will increase further in Tipperary towns, following the re-opening of Night Clubs and other related Halloween holiday activities, which took place over the past 10 days.
