Death Of Ronan Stanley, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Wednesday 16th March 2022, of Mr Ronan Stanley, Georgespark, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

The passing of Mr Stanley is most deeply regretted by his loving wife and best friend Deirdre, his adoring sons David and Conor, his heartbroken parents Albert and Mary, brothers Niall, Kenneth and Leonard, sisters Olwen and Edel, parents-in-law Peter and Teresa (McGovern), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, extended relatives neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Stanley will repose at his residence (Eircode E41 X5A0) on Saturday afternoon, March 19th, from 3:00pm until 6:30pm.
His body will be received into the Church of the Sacred Heart, Gortnahoe, Thurles, on Sunday morning, March 20th, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 10:30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Thurles Road, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended Requiem Mass for Mr Stanley, but are unable to do so, due to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic; same can be viewed online HERE.

[NB: Due to Public Health Guidelines, regarding C-19 virus restrictions; those attending Requiem Mass will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing, face covering, with no hand shaking.]

Death Of Phil Brett, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Thursday 17th March 2022, of Mr Phil Brett, Ballyoughter, Drombane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Brett passed away peacefully, following a long illness, and while in the care of staff at Acorn Lodge Nursing Home.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Brett will repose at O’Dwyers Funeral Home, Upperchurch, Thurles on tomorrow evening, Friday, March 18th, from 6:30pm, with removal at 8:00pm to be received into the Church of St. Mary, Drombane, Thurles.
His body will further repose for Requiem Mass on Saturday morning, March 19th, at 11:30am, followed by interment in Moyaliffe Cemetery, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Kathleen Ryan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Wednesday 16th March 2022, of Mrs Kathleen Ryan (née Gleeson), Mountkinnane, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Jerry and sisters Peggy and Teresa; Mrs Ryan passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her immediate family Margaret (Collier), Bernadette (Quinn) and Sean, loved sons-in-law Tom and Ian daughter-in-law Jenny, adored grandchildrem Sinead, Diarmuid, Conor, Tomás, Etaoin, Fiadh, Murrien and Callum, her sisters Sr. Assumpta, Ciss, Denis, Pauline, brother Michael, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Her body will be received into the nearby Church of the Sacred Heart Church, Borrisoleigh, Thurles, to further repose for Requiem Mass on Sunday afternoon, March 20th, at 1:00pm, followed immediately afterwards by interment in Glenkeen Cemetery, Coolaun lower, Borrisoleigh, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Thursday 17th March, 2022, of Mrs Margaret (Peggy) Callanan (née Mockler), Leugh Bridge, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Con; Mrs Callanan passed away peacefully at her place of residence, while in her 95th year and surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her sons Pat, Conor, Thos, Ger and Dan, daughters-in-law Josie, Louise and Sharon, grandchildren Niamh, Louise (and their mother AnnMarie), Jade, Hannah, Grainne and Sinead, sister Mary (Casey), nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law Kitty, Nora and Janet, extended relatives, good neighbours and friends.

The funeral cortège, bearing the body of Mrs Callanan, will leave her residence on Saturday morning, March 19th, at 10:15am, to be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Catherdral Street, Thurles at 10:30am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in Killinan Cemetery, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of “The Irish R.M.” Star Peter Bowles.

Star of “The Irish R.M.”, and author Mr Peter Bowles has sadly died from cancer, yesterday March 16th, at the age of 85 years.
The actor whose career began with RADA at the Old Vic is survived by wife of some 60 years Sue, together with his three children Guy, Adam and Sasha.

The well-known and much loved charismatic actor of stage and screen will possibly be best remembered, playing the character of ‘Mr Richard DeVere’, starring opposite Penelope Keith as ‘Ms Margo Leadbetter’, in the smash-hit sitcom, “To The Manor Born”, which saw audiences of some 20 million viewers during its twenty-one episodes.

Starting his career at the Old Vic Theatre in 1956, he starred in 45 theatrical productions retiring at the age of 81 in “The Exorcist” at the Phoenix Theatre, having worked consistently on stage and screen, as the typical English gent, wearing a trademark moustache, in the British sitcoms including, “Only When I Laugh”, “The Bounder” and the TV drama “Lytton’s Diary”, which he devised himself.

From 1958 – 2021, Mr Bowles starred in some 42 films and well over 100 Television series, as well as receiving awards & honours including: – RADA Scholarship (1954); Madge Kendal Prize (1955); ITV Personality of the Year (1983); Male Comedy Star Award (1983); The Golden Gate Award (San Francisco International Film Festival, 1993) and an Hon. Doctor of Letters (Nottingham Trent University, 2002).

His book titles include the autobiography: “Ask Me if I’m Happy” and “Behind the Curtain: The Job of Acting”.
