New Thurles Band Releases Debut Album

Eoin Ryan

Seskin Lane is a new Thurles rock band and they have just released their debut album ‘Tasty Rainbow Rain’. The band Seskin Lane was founded by Thurles native Eoin Ryan from guess where… yes, he’s from Seskin, Thurles! The album ‘Tasty Rainbow Rain’ was entirely written by Eoin and he performs the songs as well as playing guitar. Several other local musicians are also involved in the album; James Phelan plays Drums, Nigel Grace does the Bass and Niall Shaughnessy does Guitar and backing vocals. Other musicians included on the album are David Dunne (Guitar) and Morgan Lannigan (Bass).

The album was recorded during 2011 in the Jam Studios, Kells, Co. Meath. After many days in the studio the band emerged with a super album. The album “Tasty Rainbow Rain” will be available to buy at Seskin Lane gigs and will also be available on iTunes and other online stores in the coming weeks.

Una Healy Signs Deal For First Baby Pics

Thurles native & Saturdays Singing Star Una Healy has signed a megabucks deal for the first pics of her baby daughter with a British glossy UK magazine.

The 30-year-old Tipperary mum, engaged to English rugby star Ben Foden, will pose for photographs with her newborn baby in the coming weeks.

The Thurles beauty gave birth to her 7lbs 13oz baby, Aoife Bell Foden, two weeks before her due expected arrival date and took her baby home last Friday evening.

On Twitter Una has posted “Thank you so much everyone for giving our beautiful baby girl such a loving welcome into the world, xx.”

It has already been confirmed that Una and her girl band ‘The Saturdays,’ will play at the Thurles Greyhound Stadium at 2.30pm on Sunday June 3rd next, (June Bank Holiday weekend.) with tickets for the event on sale at €35.00 excluding booking charges and available from www.ticketmaster.ie

Una Healy & Ben Foden Welcome Birth Of Baby Girl

The rugby star Ben Foden has announced the birth of his daughter on Twitter: ‘I am officially a Dad, Una and baby are both amazing and healthy. I am so proud of them both.

Una Healy’s new baby weighed in at 7lbs 13oz and is to be called Aoife Belle Foden.

Obviously great thought went into choosing their new born daughter’s name. Here in Thurles ‘Aoife,’ is a very popular Irish name, meaning ‘beauty,‘ while the French word ‘Belle,’ also means ‘beautiful.’ Ben’s mother’s maiden name was ‘Bell,’ and we suspect this had also a major bearing on the couple’s name choice.

Sultry local beauty Una, first publically announced news of her pregnancy back in September of last year, expressing her and Ben’s extreme joy.  The couple later announced their engagement in December last, during a gig with “The Saturday’s,” Band at Wembley Arena.

Una from all here in Thurles Co. Tipperary, go our congratulations and best wishes to you, Ben and baby Aoife, and we look forward to seeing you back here in Thurles ‘gigging,’ on Sunday June 3rd next.”
