Free Online Stress Control Programme

Improve mental wellbeing during these challenging times with the help of the HSCHI’s and HSE’s free online ‘Stress Control’ programme, starting today, June 8th, 2020.

The HSE’s ‘Stress Control’ programme is an evidenced based programme that teaches individuals practical skills to deal with stress.

This highly successful programme has already been completed by over 10,000 people here in Ireland.

The programme covers topics including:-

  • how stress affects our bodies and our thoughts.
  • skills to overcome panicky feelings.
  • tips to getting a good night’s sleep.

The programme includes six modules which will be broadcast at scheduled times for 3 weeks. Modules will be broadcast on Mondays (repeated Tuesdays) and Thursdays (repeated Fridays), with each module running at 2:00pm and again at 8:30pm.

Go to stresscontrol.org and subscribe, at no cost, to the YouTube channel, so that you will be updated when the next module will be broadcast.

Covid-19 Update: Sun. 7th June 2020 – 1 Death – 25 New Cases

Dublin continues to remain with the highest number of Covid-19 virus cases at 12,139 (48%) followed by Cork with 1,529 cases (6%) with Kildare a close third with 1,428 cases (6%).

With regards all cases; community transmission accounts for 39%, close contact accounts for 59%, travel abroad accounts for 2%.

The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; as of midnight on Friday last, June 5th, remains at 540, with 0 new cases notified within a 24 hours period. South Tipperary General Hospital, has currently no confirmed cases of the disease

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 1 person has sadly passed away from the virus here in the Republic of Ireland, over the past 24 hours. These latest figures leave the total number of deaths caused by this pandemic currently at 1,679.

This evening, it has also been confirmed that an additional 25 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total since conception, here in the Republic of Ireland, to 25,201.

People are being warned to continue to avoid large gatherings / family celebrations in private homes or indeed elsewhere.

Covid-19 Update: Sat. 6th June 2020 – 9 Deaths – 24 New Cases

Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has stated that it was vital that people adhered to necessary guidelines going forward with regards to the Covid-19 virus, thus ensuring there is not any strong resurgence of the epidemic.

Dublin remains with the highest number of Covid-19 virus cases at 12,127 (48%) followed by Cork with 1,528 cases (6%) with Kildare close behind with 1,423 cases (6%).

Earlier today, Health Minister Simon Harris confirmed that there were 123 people in hospital with Covid-19, here in the Republic.

The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; as of midnight on Thursday, June 4th last, remains at 540, with 0 new cases notified within a 24 hours period. South Tipperary General Hospital, has currently no confirmed cases of the disease

This evening, it has also been confirmed that an additional 24 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total since conception, here in the Republic of Ireland, to 25,183.

People are being warned again to avoid large gatherings / family celebrations in private homes etc..

Covid-19 Update: Friday 5th June 2020 – 7 Deaths – 28 New Cases

Taoiseach accelerates planned roadmap to reopening Ireland’s 26 counties.

Taoiseach Mr Leo Varadkar has stated “Today I can confirm that it is safe to move to Phase 2 of the plan to reopen our country, starting on Monday.”

Quoting a maxim from the Roman statesman Cicero (Cicero’s De Legibus, “Salus populi suprema lex esto”), “The health of the people should be the supreme law”, this he stated had been the full approach taken by the government since the pandemic was declared in March last.

Phase 3 of the roadmap is expected to start on June 29th and Phase 4 on July 20th next, if all goes according to plan. However, “As we ease restrictions and meet and interact more, this will become more important,” he warned.

While physical distancing should still be observed, public Libraries can open on Monday.
Shops reopening will continue to provide specific dedicated hours for those who are over 70 years or in an at-risk group.
Also from Monday, up to 25 people will now be able to attend funerals for loved ones.
Animal Marts can reopen and greyhound racing resume, but alas without spectators.

This evening, it has also been confirmed that an additional 28 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total since conception, here in the Republic of Ireland, to 25,163.

Covid-19 Update: Thursday 4th June 2020 – 5 Deaths – 38 New Cases

There has been a slight potential increase in the Covid-19 reproductive rate, according to Health Minister Simon Harris.
Last week, the reproduction number was between 0.4 and 0.5. while the previous week, it had been between 0.4 and 0.6. However, the number still remains below 1, and that means the growth of the virus is still being slowly suppressed.

The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; as of midnight on Tuesday, June 2nd last, is recorded at 540, with 1 new case notified within a 24 hours period.

The Department of Health has confirmed this evening that a further 5 person have sadly passed away from the Corona-19 virus here in the Republic of Ireland, over the past 24 hours. These latest figures leave the total number of deaths caused by this pandemic currently at 1,664.

This evening, it has also been confirmed that an additional 38 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total since conception, here in the Republic of Ireland, to 25,142.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 12,093 (48%) followed by Cork with 1,517 cases (6%) and then Kildare with 1,419 cases (6%). The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet tomorrow to continue its review of Ireland’s overall response.

People are still being urged to continue the course ahead of the now expected second phase of Covid-19 restriction easing due next week.
