Another 51 persons in Northern Ireland have tested positive for coronavirus, according to their Department of Health. This information now leads to a number of new Covid-19 restrictions being introduced in Northern Ireland this evening. While here in Cahir Co. Tipperary it is understood that a further 8 workers have tested positive for Covid-19 at the ABP Meat processing plant; a meat processing factory in Antrim has now also been closed because of a significant outbreak of the virus, with some 500 staff ordered to cocoon.

Meanwhile, it should be remembered that Ryanair’s chief executive Mr Michael O’Leary, who yesterday accused public health officials of mismanaging the Covid-19 crisis and closing Ireland to business by advocating an “isolationist” travel policy, has forgotten he does NOT govern or indeed influence residents in this country and most certainly is not a frontline worker. Sorry Mr O’Leary, but your shareholders, who like you are also not frontline workers must/needs also take a cut in dividends, like everyone else.
Please redouble your efforts in relation to hand washing, physical distancing and reduce contacts, until this virus has been destroyed.
It was dissappointing to learn this evening that Tipperary Independent Deputy Mr Michael Lowry has become the latest TD to demonstrate he is out of touch regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. His remarks come on a day when Norway’s Foreign Minister states that his country is imposing a 10-day quarantine on travellers from Ireland, due to rising Covid-19 cases here in our Republic.
Deputy Lowry is calling on the Government to reconsider the decision to hold sporting events behind closed doors; stating that the decision, based on advice from NPHET, makes no sense or no logic.
Mr Michael Lowry; Mr Jackie Cahill (Latter who publicaly claims he has “the ear of An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin”), and Mr Alan Kelly, none of whom sit at the Cabinet table, should now sit down or buy a newspaper once in a while, and view the real world or if you have the ability, view the following links, before Micheál Martin looks for his ear back:-

Time to stop your populist thinking crap guys; as you appeal to the ordinary electorate, giving the latter a feeling that their concerns are being disregarded by an established elite government, latter which two of you, above named, claim you fully support.
View also HERE – Over 22 Million (22,186,759) cases have been confirmed worldwide as I write this, with sadly almost 1 million (782,019) people now dead, while ye rant on about a minor 3 week sporting lockdown. Sad, so sad.
Meanwhile, management at the Ribworld meat processing plant here in Fethard, Co. Tipperary, have today confirmed that one of its staff members is presently in self-isolation, having proved positive with the Covid-19 virus over the weekend. This confirmed case is understood to have been identified through contact tracing.
At the O’Brien Fine Foods plant in Co Kildare, a further eight workers have tested positive for Covid-19. This follows the discovery over the past two weeks that 86 staff at the Timahoe meat processing plant had contacted the virus.

Kelly, one other Tipperary TD “away with the fairies.”
“Demoralising” and “Stupid” is how Labour leader Mr Alan Kelly described the Government’s decision to ban spectators at sporting events today; proving once again that he remains totally out of touch, with regards to the Covid-19 pandemic, while demonstrating maximum contempt for, not just front line health workers, but also for the elderly and those vulnerable.
Demonstrating contempt for vulnerable people is nothing new for members of the Irish Labour Party, latter eagerly demonstrating, while in coalition, and characterised by a plethora of continuous broken promises surrounding the protection of vulnerable people.
This is the leader of a political party who failed to deliver, while in government, on even one of Labours electoral promises e.g. maintaining levels of child benefit; maintaining disabled incomes; water charge fiasco; thus quickly aggravating a frustrated electorate, who reduced Labours Dáil seats from 37 to a mere 7.
An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin announced today, following sound advice from the Irish National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) that, until at least September 13th next, no one can attend sport events as a spectator.
Mr Kelly, whom as far as we are aware has no medical qualification whatsoever, and indeed no solutions to any problems either, has called the government’s decision publicly a “complete joke” claiming our National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) have not got their “finger on the pulse”; while also claiming the decision taken by government in relation to sporting events is stupid because “how many 80-year-old people can stream sporting events?”
So should we send 80-year-olds to crowded match venues, when even they are being asked to avoid large gatherings? Thankfully Mr Kelly is not even the leader of the opposition, if such a post actually exists.
Mr Kelly, who was only narrowly elected last time out, as a Tipperary TD, and whose Labour Party of just 7 remaining seats, refused to enter the present government; is attempting to use populist rhetoric, in his effort to attract back the thousands of once Labour party voters, driven by his failed party, into the loving arms of Sinn Féin.
Then maybe on the other-hand people won’t be as familiar with his brother, Declan Kelly, whose American corporation, “Teneo” is prominently displayed on Tipperary Hurling jerseys; no doubt making everyone think of Mr Alan Kelly (AK47), except at Labour party election time.
Time to cocoon, while viewing a rerun of the American TV series “House of Cards” Mr Kelly, or maybe time to take your bulky pension and go away, Mr Kelly.
This evening, figures from the Department of Health have lately confirmed that there have been one new death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,775.
However, there are 190 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases since conception, in the Irish Republic, at 27,499.
Of these new cases 38, or 1 in 5 nationally, are confirmed as being in Co. Tipperary.
Meanwhile, the Cabinet has decided that Gardaí will now rightly be given new powers to enforce Covid-19 related rules around social gathering, particularly with regards restaurants or bars serving food and also in private residences.
