The Department of Health has confirmed 1,627 new coronavirus cases over the past 24 hours here in the Irish Republic.
There are 415 people in hospital with the virus, an increase of 7 since yesterday, with 70 patients now in intensive care units.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Dr Ronan Glynn is urging the public to continue adhering to public health advice, and to staying at home if they have any Covid-19 symptoms, even if you are fully vaccinated.
The Minister for Health Mr Stephen Donnelly, has stated that the high number of Covid-19 cases is partly due to Ireland’s close proximity to the UK and the high level of movement between both countries.
Ireland has one of the highest vaccine uptake rates within Europe, but despite that, the country also has one of the highest incidence of the virus.
Latest figures show that there have been 13 Covid-19 related deaths in the week to Tuesday, October 12th, bringing the total number of deaths due to the virus this month to 35 here in the Irish Republic.
Northern Ireland In Northern Ireland, a further 1,304 cases of the virus were also notified by the Department of Health, down from 1,471 on yesterday. Sadly, 6 more coronavirus-related deaths have been reported over the past 24 hours. The latest hospital figures show there were 345 patients with Covid-19 in northern hospitals today, down from 347 reported on Wednesday, with 38 patients in intensive care units, 5 more than reported yesterday.
Russia In Russia, officials have registered 31,299 new infections and 986 deaths from Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing their total fatalities to 220,315, the highest toll in Europe. With no restrictions in place, only 31% of Russians are fully vaccinated and independent polls taken show that more than half of the Russian people, sadly, are not planning on taking the vaccine.
Choosing to get vaccinated is an act of protection for yourself, as it may save your life; but it is also an act of solidarity with others; the more of us that get vaccinated, the safer we all will be.
The Department of Health here in the Republic of Ireland has confirmed 2,066 new coronavirus cases, within the past 24 hours.
There are 408 people being treated in hospital with the virus, an increase of six since yesterday, while the number of patients in intensive care units across the State stands at 69, a drop of 4 on yesterdays reported figures.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr Simon Coveney has stated that the Government remains on track to move ahead with the removal of Covid-19 restrictions on October 22nd; unless compelling evidence is made available on current rising infection rates, suggesting that this forecast approach should change.
In Northern Ireland, over the past 24 hours another 1,471 cases of the virus have been confirmed.
Their latest hospital figures show there were 347 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals today, down from 368 on Tuesday. There remain currently 33 patients in northern intensive care units, 2 more than Tuesday’s total, with sadly 1 more coronavirus-related death reported.

The Department of Health has confirmed 1,466 new cases of Covid-19, here in the Republic of Ireland, over the past 24 hours.
There are 402 people being treated in our hospitals for the virus, an increase of two on yesterday. Of these, 73 patients are in intensive care units, down 2 from yesterday.
The positivity rate for Covid-19 within the community has started to rise, according to the Health Service Executive’s National Lead for Testing and Tracing, with unvaccinated people aged in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, are most likely to end up in our hospital.
In Northern Ireland, over the past 24 hours, another 1,278 cases of the virus were also confirmed by their Department of Health, up from 1,109 on Monday.

There are currently 31 patients in intensive care beds, 4 less than Monday’s reported figures. However sadly, 6 more coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland today.

There are 400 patients being treated for the virus in our hospital, latter number an increase of 18 based on yesterday’s reported figures.
Today’s hospital numbers are the highest since March 8th last, when there were 418 patients in our hospital suffering with the disease. Some 40% of hospital patient cases are unvaccinated.
The number of people being treated for the virus in intensive care units are up 1 on yesterday’s figures, rising to 75. Some 69% of those in ICU’s are unvaccinated.

There were 314 patients with Covid-19 in northern hospitals, down 13 on yesterday’s figures. However, there are currently 35 patients remaining in intensive care units, 1 more than yesterday.

The Department of Health has confirmed 1,384 new cases of Covid-19 over the past 24 hours here in the Republic of Ireland.
There are 382 patients being treated in hospital for Covid-19, an increase of 29 on yesterdays reported figures, with 74 of these patients in intensive care units (Up 20% in past 7 days) around the country.
With social media platforms largely responsible for people’s scepticism in getting vaccinated, YouTube (owned by Google), are continuing to remove content that spreads misinformation about all approved vaccines. In the last 14 months, well over 130,000 videos have been removed from its platform.
Some 3,000 of France’s 2.7 million health care; care home and fire service staff have already been suspended since mid September, because they were not vaccinated against Covid-19.
Videos already taken down include those that stated approved vaccines were dangerous and cause autism, cancer or infertility. YouTube’s policy also rightly includes the termination of accounts of anti-vaccine influencers.
In Northern Ireland another 1,115 cases of the virus were also been confirmed by their Department of Health, down from 1,274 confirmed yesterday.
Alas, sadly, 3 further coronavirus-related deaths have been reported on today, bringing the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in Northern Ireland, since the start of the pandemic, to 2,588.
