It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Saturday, 20th August 2022, of Most Rev. Séamus Freeman, SAC., Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Ossory, former Rector General of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, Pallottine Fathers and Brothers; former President of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, UAC; late of Coolaghmore, Callan, Co. Kilkenny; Kilkenny City, and Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by his parents Bridget and James, his sister Maureen and brother Martin; Bishop Freeman passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Highfield Healthcare, Dublin, surrounded by family members and close friends.
His passing is most sadly missed by his sisters Esther and Mary, RSM, his brothers Tommy, John and Pat, sisters-in-law Bernie, Catherine and Michelle, his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, his close friends including Frances and Raymond, extended family and neighbours , Most Rev. Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Ossory, Priests, Religious and the Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Ossory, Rev. Father Jacob Nampudakam, SAC, Rector General, his entire Pallottine Family colleagues throughout the world.

Funeral Arrangements.
Reposing in the Pallottine College, Kickham Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary (Eircode E41 A271), on Wednesday afternoon, August 24th next, from 4:30pm, with prayers at 6:00pm, before being received into the Cathedral of St. Mary, Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny, latter the Mother Church of the Diocese; to arrive at 7:30pm approximately.
Reposing from 10:00am on Thursday morning, August 25th next, in said St. Mary’s Cathedral, concluding with Night Prayer at 9:00pm.
Bishop Seamus’s Funeral Mass will be con-celebrated on Friday, August 26th next, at 12:00 noon, followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny.
For the many persons who, because of distance or ill health, would wish to participate in the funeral Mass for Bishop Seamus; same may do so online HERE.

The Department of Education has just announced that it’s 2022 Arts-in-Education BLAST Residency Programme will enable up to 425 new Arts-in-Education residencies nationally.
The aim of the BLAST scheme is to give pupils in schools all over the country, including Co. Tipperary, the opportunity to work with a professional artist on unique projects.
The artist’s fee is €1,000 per residency, which in turn is funded by the Department of Education.
Tipperary schools can get involved by completing the application form available HERE.
The deadline for receipt of applications is 30th September 2022.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, today Sunday 21th August, 2022, of Mrs Bernadette (Bernie) Doheny (née Shelly), Clonagoose, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her brother Michael and brother-in-law Pat Butler; Mrs Doheny passed away peacefully at her residence, following a short illness most bravely borne.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving husband Joe, sons Vincent, Niall and Adrian, daughters-in-law Annette, Billie and Adrians fiancé Clara. Her adored grandchildren Aaron and Tadgh, grandaughter Evie sisters Mary, Kathleen and Margaret, brother Johnny, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Doheny will repose at St Michael’s Church Mortuary, Mullinahone (E41 EW94) on Tuesday evening, August 23rd, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday morning, August 24th, at 11:30am in St Michael’s Church, Mullinahone, Thurles, followed by cremation immediately afterwards in the Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Spike Island, Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Saturday 20th August, 2022, of Mrs Maura Blackmore (née Dunphy), Crohane, Ballingarry (South Riding), Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Mick, baby daughter Mary, sister Alice, brothers Nick, Joe and Martin; Mrs Blackmore passed away suddenly, yet peacefully, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, while in her 95th year.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving brother Bill, sisters Nan, Kitty, Gretta, Agnes, Teresa, Phyllis and Frances, brothers-in-law Bill, James, Peter and Roberto; her children Ursula, Jim, Ann (Dublin), Olive (Ballygar), John and Tom, daughters-in-law Deirdre, Margaret and Allison, sons-in-law Seán and Peter, grandchildren Colm, Hazel, Anna, Charlie, Sean, Gemma, Juilana, Michael, Simon, James, Isobel and Tommy, granddaughter-in-law Karen; great neighbours, kind carers and a wide circle of friends

Star of British sitcom television Josephine Tewson has passed away peacefully, aged 91 years.
Ms Tewson, English stage and television character actress, best-known for her roles as ‘Hyacinth Bucket’s‘ nervy neighbour, in Roy Clarke’s “Keeping Up Appearances” – Miss Lucinda Davenport in “Last of the Summer Wine”, and Samantha Johnstone in “Midsomer Murders”, sadly passed away on Thursday night last at Denville Hall, latter a retirement home for actors, situated at Northwood, London, UK.
Born in Hampstead, London on February 26th 1931; her father, William, was a professional musician and played the double bass in the BBC Symphony Orchestra. Her mother, Kate (née Morley, born 1908), was a nurse, the daughter of Haydn Morley who captained Sheffield Wednesday in the 1890 FA Cup Final. Following grammar school, Ms Tewson studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, from which she graduated in 1952.
Ms Tewson was married to actor Leonard Rossiter from 1958 until their divorce in 1961. She later married Henry Newman in 1972, latter who sadly died in 1980.
