Christmas Bonus Double Payment To Issue This week.

Christmas Bonus double payment to issue this week.

This year (2022), the annual Christmas Bonus will be 100% of a persons normal weekly payment. The Christmas Bonus will not include Fuel Allowance.

If you were getting 2 eligible social welfare payments (for example, a One-Parent Family Payment and the Domiciliary Care Allowance or a half-rate Carer’s Allowance as well as your primary payment) you get the Christmas Bonus for both payments.

For Domiciliary Care Allowance (DCA), which is paid monthly, the bonus is 100% of the weekly DCA rate. The DCA portion of the bonus is calculated independently of other payments. So, for example, if you are getting full-rate DCA for one child, 100% of the weekly rate is €71.20.

A Christmas Bonus is paid to people getting long-term social welfare payments. You will be paid a Christmas Bonus, if you are getting:

  • Back to Education Allowance – people coming from jobseeker’s payments need to be getting the Allowance for at least 12 months (312 days), but you may be able to use your time on your jobseeker’s payment to help you qualify.

No Thurles Christmas Lights Until 16 Days Before Christmas.

As Thurles Municipal District continues to allow the towns public lighting system to burn 24 hours each day for some months now; we understand that Thurles Christmas lights will not be officially switched on until December 9th, 2022, just 16 days before Christmas day.
The Christmas lighting on Liberty Square, will be switched on between 2:00pm and 6:00pm, in the presence of none other than Santa Claus himself.

Dublin City Council were delighted to announce that their spectacular ‘Dublin Winter Lights’ were officially lit on the night of November 14th 2022, and will remain on until January 1st

Meanwhile, on the “What’s On In Tipp” website, funded/hosted by Tipperary Co. Council, someone added some rather contradictory information for the publics consumption.
Smile and read the information currently displayed HERE.

The website invites people to:-
Shop Local this Christmas Thurles 2022.
Event Entry Fee: €0.00.

Of course there is an entry fee, as parking charges remain in place in Thurles, unlike our sister town of Clonmel, where free parking is permitted in council owned car parks every Saturday during December, 2022.
Following previous successful schemes, it has been decided to provide free parking in the following Pay & Display towns across Fingal County Council for 3 Saturdays in December in the run up to Christmas. The dates are 10th, 17th, 24th December 2022. The towns in question are: Balbriggan, Rush, Skerries, Swords and in Malahide, Bridgefield Carpark only .
Fingal County Council supports local enterprise and hopes that this initiative will assist local businesses by encouraging citizens to “shop local” in these towns at the busiest shopping time of the year.
It should be noted that Pay and Display areas in Clonsilla, Dublin 15, have free parking on Saturdays all year round

If you go to page 9 of the same website, you will find that Newport, Co. Tipperary will be having their Christmas Market on Sunday, December 3, 2023 @06:00 pm to Monday, December 4, 2023 @05:00 pm.
Now that is what I call great forward planning.

A Song For A Sunday.

Let there be peace on earth.

Vocals: Crystal Gayle. Composers: Jill Jackson & Sy Miller.

This song is performed worldwide throughout the year, and particularly during the Christmas season.
It is included in the hymnals of a variety of Christian denominations.
It is also sung by those not connected with religious or spiritual matters. Keeping in mind an extract from the prayer Desiderata (“Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.”) the words “God as our Father” is replaced with “Earth as our Mother” and “Father” is replaced with “creator”. The words “brother” is replaced with “family” or “each other”.

Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth,
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our father,
Brothers all are we.
Let me walk with my brother,
In perfect harmony.
Let peace began with me.
Let this be the moment now.
With every step I take,
Let this be my solemn vow.
To take each moment,
And live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it began with me.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth,
The peace that was meant to be.
To take each moment,
And live each moment in peace eternally.
Let there be peace on earth,
And let it began with me.
