Death Of Pádraig Mulkerrins, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Saturday last, 18th March 2023, of Mr Pádraig Mulkerrins (Pádraig Ó Maoilchiaráin), Deansgrange, Co. Dublin and formerly of Camus, Co. Galway and Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his brother Cóilín and sisters Breege and Mary; Mr Mulkerrins passed away peacefully, after a short illness, while in the care of staff at St. Michael’s Hospital, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his wife Ursula, sons and daughters Caoimhín, Maura, Triona, Jim, Joe, Orla and Cóilín, sons-in-law Larry and Don, daughters-in-law Helen, Chris, Rosemary and Mary, grandchildren Sarah, Conor, Ciara, Garrett, Richard, Orla, Ian, Fiona, Neil, Steven, James, Laura, Alex, Anna, Orla and Zak and his fourteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

His remains will repose on Wednesday afternoon, March 22nd, at Fanagans Funeral Home, Monkstown A94 XK28 from 3:00pm until 5:00pm. A funeral ceremony will take place on Thursday morning, March 23rd, at 10:00am in the Victorian Chapel at Mount Jerome Crematorium, 158 Harold’s Cross Rd, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W, Co. Dublin.

Death Of Thomas Callanan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Saturday 18th March 2023, of Mr Thomas Callanan, “The Bungalow”, Ardbawn, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Callanan passed away peacefully, following a short illness, while in the care of staff at Milford Care Centre, Limerick.

His passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by his wife Phina, his children Con, Mary, Elizabeth, Michael, Thomas and Margaret, grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sister Mary, brothers John and Con, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Callanan will repose in Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, on Monday afternoon, March 20th, from 4:30pm to 7:00pm same evening; before being received into the Cathedral of Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles at 8:00pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday morning, March 21st, at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Killinan Graveyard, Killinan, Nenagh Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Thurles, St. Patrick’s Day Parade, March 17th 2023.

Possibly, the largest turnout ever of spectators who came to view this year’s Thurles St. Patrick’s Days Parade; latter held yesterday, March 17th, 2023.

Ireland is renowned for its enduring tradition, its culture and heritage, which traverses across all borders, inviting those across the world to come together annually on Friday, March 17th and collectively share, participate, celebrate, laugh and where possible perform.

Lá Fhéile Pádraig – St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Thurles 2023.

Saint Patrick’s Day, for the few who are as yet unaware, is a religious and cultural holiday held annually on March 17th, the traditional death date of St. Patrick, latter Ireland’s foremost patron saint.

Using the theme “The Past, Present and Future”, the Thurles and District St. Patricks Day Parade, 2023, took place today, March 17th, in warm Spring sunshine [14° C].
The Thurles St. Patrick’s Day festival links with the many other villages, towns and cities around Ireland, in assisting to highlight our global culture; same a culture that unites us through our distinctive music, traditions, storytelling, sport and nature.

Today’s event saw, possibly, the largest turnout of spectators, many of whom were from foreign countries, and many togged out displaying festive green and gold.

The parade began sharp at 2.15pm, with Liberty Square closed off from traffic at the Slievenamon Road junction from 2:00pm, and with diversions in place preventing no entry unto the eastern side of Liberty Square.

The ‘Reviewing Stand’, this year for the first time was positioned outside McMahon’s Shoe Emporium and Heyday Coffee House on Liberty Square’s north side (Sunny Side).

A huge ‘Thank You‘ to Mr Johnny Kenehan (Chairperson St. Patrick’s Day Committee) and his organising committee members.

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland [FSAI] yesterday, Wednesday, March 15th 2023, recalled a batch of ‘The Apple Farm Still Irish Apple Juice’ due to possible fermentation that could cause bottle breakage.

The product referred ‘The Apple Farm Still Irish Apple Juice’, pack size: 250ml, with country of origin Ireland, is identified by Batch Code: M152, and shows best before date as:- 31/03/2024.

The above named batch is being recalled due to possible fermentation that may cause bottle breakage.
