Death Of Paddy Ryan, Formerly Of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 11th April 2025 of Mr Patrick (Paddy) Ryan, late of Barrack Street, Kilfinane, Co. Limerick and formerly of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Ryan passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Cork University Hospital, Co. Cork.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving daughter Anne, sons Oliver and Finnan, grandchildren Tyrone, Kelsey, Syann, Gavin, Patrick, Niall and Arthur, son-in-law Pat, daughters-in-law Maura and Eimear, nieces, nephews, sister Angela, brothers-in-law Donie and Liam, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Ryan will repose at McCarthy’s Funeral Home, Kilfinane, Co. Limerick (Eircode V35 Y8P8), on Sunday evening, April 13th, from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
His remains will be received into the Roman Catholic Church of St. Andrew, Chapel Street, Kilfinane, on Monday morning, April 14th, at 11:00am, to further repose for Requiem Mass, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the local cemetery.

For those persons who wish to attend Requiem Mass for Mr Ryan, but for reasons cannot, same can be viewed streamed live online, with link yet to follow.

Death Of Rodger Dwyer, Formerly Rossmore, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Wednesday 26th March 2025 of Mr Rodger Dwyer, late of Sydney, Australia and formerly of Turaheen, Rossmore, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Julia, brothers Michael, Pakie and Jimmy, sisters Nonie and Shelia: the passing of Mr Dwyer is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; son Paul, daughter Julie, grandchildren Sienna and Halle, great-grandchildren Charlie and Darcy, brothers Timmy, Christy, John, Joseph and Gerard, sisters Josephine, Mary, Eileen and Pauline, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Thurles Special Olympics Basketball Club AGM.

Annual General Meeting, 2025, Thurles Special Olympics Basketball Club.

Mr Enda Bourke (Chairperson) Reports:-

Thurles Special Olympics Basketball Club held it’s AGM in the Anner Hotel on April 1st.
A good attendance received reports from Mr Enda Bourke (Chairperson). Ms Mary Ryan Maher (Secretary). Ms Carmel Sammon (Treasurer), Ms Marian O’Regan (Safeguarding Officer) and Mr Dennis Jordan (Medical Officer).

The athletes were represented as always by Ms Maureen O’Shea, a winner of two silver medals at the Special Olympic World games in Newhaven, Connecticut in 1995.

The Chairperson thanked all those associated with the running of the Club and complimented all the athletes for their dedication to training every week at the Presentation Sports hall, mentioning especially their parents, family members and carers, for their assistance and support over the past year. He also welcomed a number of new Volunteers who have joined the Club at the start of the season last September.

The following were elected to serve at the AGM for the coming year: Chairperson – Mr Enda Bourke; Secretary – Ms Mary Ryan Maher; Assistant Secretary – Ms Catherine Reynolds; Treasurer – Ms Carmel Sammon; Medical Officer – Mr Dennis Jordan; Safeguarding Officer – Ms Marian O’Regan; Athlete Rep Ms Maureen O’Shea; Coaches Mr Enda Bourke and Ms Marian O’Regan; Club Membership Ms Mary Ryan Maher and Ms Carmel Sammon; IT Officer Ms Breda Sammon.

Death Of Paddy Corbett, Formerly of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, today Thursday 10th April 2025, of Mr Patrick, Thomas (Paddy) Corbett, Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 and formerly of Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents, his sister Joan and brother Ned, his brothers-in-law Sean and Paul and sister-in-law Dolores; Mr Corbett passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at the Mater Hospital, Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Catherine (Kitty), sons Seán, and Seamus, daughters Suzanne and Sharon, grandchildren Allen, Catherine, Ben, Matt, Róisín, Seán, Tomás and Liam, sons-in-law Blane and Andy, daughter-in-law Carol, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

His remains will be received into the Roman Catholic Church of St Brigid, Church Avenue, Blanchardstown on Tuesday morning, April 15th, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 10:00am, followed by a Service of Cremation at Glasnevin Crematorium, Finglas Road, Glasnevin, Co. Dublin (Eircode D11 XA32).
