Courtesy Irish comedian and singer, the late great Brendan Grace, (1951–2019); known for his comedy schoolboy character “Bottler”.
Born in the heart of Dublin City in 1951, Brendan was raised on Echlin Street, in the Liberties area of the city. His father Seamus worked as a bartender, an ambulance man and other odd jobs, to keep the family going.
Like many young Dubliners of that period, Brendan left school young to find work. His first job was as a messenger boy, an occupation he often referred to in his live performances.
His wit and observations of daily life in Ireland will long remain.

Pre-deceased by her parents Elizabeth and James, husband Michael, brother Seamus, grandsons Gary and Josh, great-grandson baby Noah, grandmother Liz; Mrs Gooney passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Milford Care Centre, surrounded by her loving family, following a long illness most bravely borne. Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; sons Tom and James, daughters Liz, Noreen and Anna, 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, sons-in-law, brother and sisters, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended relatives, great neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The remains of Mr Westren will repose at the family home on St Stephens Day in Marlow, Clonoulty, Co. Tipperary and all relatives and friends are welcome to pay their respects.

“Mr Westren was born in Enfield, Sydney, Australia on 24th November 1929 to parents Walter and Eveleen. He spent 10 years in New Zealand and was previously married to Nicky (who also predeceases him). He met Jean when travelling and married her soon after, living in her home in Bishop Auckland, Co Durham. They made Clonoulty their home nearly 30 years ago and fully integrated themselves into local life, making many friends in the area.”
