Covid-19 Updates: Tue. 8th June 2021 – 271 New Virus Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 271 new additional virus cases reported. (Same case numbers subject to future data validation.)

There are 77 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland and of that number 27 are in ICU’s.

In Northern Ireland, their Department of Health has confirmed 81 new cases of the disease today.

The Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin has stated that the Government may signal that some workers can return to their offices by the end of August, with many more people then fully vaccinated.

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 6.00pm this evening, now stands at well over 173.72 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at almost 3.74 million.

No Sustainability Encouraged By Thurles Municipal District Officials ?

Parks in Thurles, Co. Tipperary, worse than littered scenes in St. Stephen’s Green, Temple Bar and South William Street last Saturday.

Sadly the pictures hereunder were taken on Friday evening last, as the 3 day June Bank holiday weekend got underway.

Same is further proof that well paid, Thurles officials and line management within the organisation, headed by Tipperary County Council Chief Executive Mr Joe MacGrath, are sadly failing in their commitment and responsibilities, with regards to the people of Thurles town and its environs.

As can be seen above, Clothing Pods and Bottle Pods are full to capacity, resulting in individuals leaving clothing & bottles strewn across Parnell Car-park and Thurles Town Park.

The signs on the front of the clothing Pod containers claim to be ‘Sewing the seeds of sustainability’.

The word sustainable of course is a composition of two words ‘sustain’ and ‘able’ and is defined as the processes and actions through which humans avoid the overexploitation and depletion of natural resources.
No evidence of sustainability being practised here.

The sign on the front of the bottle Pod containers, however state a different message, “Look Littering is an offence. Do not leave boxes or bags full or empty. Covert CCTV will capture offenders”.

Who is responsible for this continuous failure?
Where is the Thurles or covert CCTV cameras ?
Who will be prosecuted?

Covid-19 Updates: Mon. 7th June 2021 – 377 New Virus Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 377 new additional virus cases reported. (Same case numbers subject to future data validation.)

There are 69 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland and of that number 26 are in ICU’s.

In Northern Ireland, their Department of Health has confirmed 54 new cases of the disease today.

Some 26% of the Irish nation have now been fully vaccinated, with 3 million vaccine doses administered in total.

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 6.00pm this evening, now stands at well over 173.38 million confirmed cases, with global deaths at well over 3.73 million.

Covid-19 Updates: Sun. 6th June 2021 – 313 New Virus Cases.

As final preparations are being made ahead of further easing of Covid-19 restrictions tomorrow, with all outdoor hospitality being permitted, together with gyms and cinemas being allowed to reopen; the Department of Health this evening has confirmed there have been 313 new additional virus cases reported. (Same case numbers subject to future data validation.)

There are 70 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today in the Republic of Ireland and of that number 27 are in ICU’s.

Gardaí continue to appeal to people this holiday weekend period to demonstrate responsibility while socialising outdoors.

With the Delta (India) variant of the coronavirus estimated to be 40% more transmissible than the Alpha (UK) variant, we welcome the statement from Irish Minister for Health, Mr Stephen Donnelly, that the target of three million vaccine doses should be reached over this weekend here in the Irish Republic.

Roscrea Town Introduce Garda “Chatting Bench” Courtesy Colaiste Pobail

A Garda “Chatting Bench” was launched in Roscrea town on Friday last June 4th 2021. The purpose of the bench is so that people can have a chat with a Garda, to get to know each other better and to hopefully put a few smiles on faces.

Speaking at the launch of the initiative, Superintendent Mr Eddie Golden said “We have seen similar initiatives by our Garda colleagues in other parts of the country and thought this would be excellent in the town. Anyone can come along and have a quick chat with us. It doesn’t have to be ‘Garda-related’, but if people feel uncomfortable about going to a Garda station for any reason, the bench is a safe place for anyone to discuss any issues of concern.
We hope that this will be a place where we can all have a little chat and a laugh whilst getting to know each other a little bit better”

The chatting bench, which was kindly donated by Colaiste Pobail, will now be piloted in the Roscrea area, with the aim of expanding the idea throughout the Tipperary Division.

The bench will be moved around Roscrea every week with the times and locations being posted on the Garda Síochána Tipperary Facebook page. The bench will be open for one hour at each location.
