It is with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, today Sunday 1st August 2021, of Mr William (Billy) Dillon, Lisnagrough, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary; formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary and Kylebeg, Durrow, Co Laois.
Pre-deceased by his grandson Frankie, sisters Maureen and Patty; Mr Dillon passed away peacefully at his place of residence, surrounded by his loving family.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving and devoted wife Brigid, daughters Catherine, Judith and Edel, sons Martin, Tom and William, grandchildren Ned, William, Murt, Elisha, Cathal, Chloe, Alannah, John, Liam, Leah, Padraig and Ella, sons-in-law Manus, Francis and Aonghus, daughters-in-law Joanne, Julianne and Lorna, sister Bridie O’Rourke, (Lusk), brothers Marty (Kylebeg, Durrow) and Paul (Killeshin, Co Laois), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law Joe, Mick, Jim, Paddy and Tommy, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mr Dillon will repose in Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Monday evening, August 2nd, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
His body will be received into the Abbey Church, at Holycross Thurles, on Tuesday morning, August 3rd, at 11:00am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:30am.
Interment will take place immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.
For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mr Dillon, but are unable to do so, due to current coronavirus pandemic restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

It was with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, yesterday Saturday 31st July 2021, of Mrs Mary (Peggy) Byrne (née Dorney), Clobanna Terrace, Mitchel Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Mrs Byrne passed away peacefully at her place of residence, while under the wonderful care of her loving family.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her daughters Carmel (Cheshunt, Broxbourne, Hertfordshire, London) and Nuala, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sons-in-law Ray and Richard, sister Eileen (London), nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, cousins, extended relatives, great neighbours and many good friends.

Two Pied Wagtails, no doubt sick of the continuous long drawn out revitalisation of Liberty Square, in Thurles, moved home in late May of this year to take up residence amongst the sweet smelling Asian Lily collection in O’Driscoll’s Garden Centre, Mill Road, Thurles.
Their reason – to raise possibly their second family.
Choosing a central area to the Garden Centre’s large Lily collection, they located a flower pot which offered suitable central space, the female alone building the nursery for their anticipated brood, using dry grass, horsehair, wool and a few feathers set on a soft peat base.
Pied Wagtails like nesting in farms buildings and gardens and similar inhabited areas, often nesting on the ground and sometimes in old, previously abandoned nests.
Later, mother Wagtail laid five eggs, greyish to blue-white in colour, and some 14 days later five chicks were observed being tended by both the parents.
Lovers of nature and the environment, the O’Driscoll brothers immediately closed off the exhibit area for one month, displaying a sign (not in accordance with truth or fact) declaring their full Lily collection was ‘Previously Sold Out’. However, customer and lovers of garden Asian Lilies, should note their full Lily collection is now back on the market, and a crop of five baby Wagtails and their parents are most exceedingly grateful.

In all, their nest sojourn lasted 29 days. Having left the nest, they remained in the general area for a further few days, before possibly returning to Liberty Square, where an now overcrowded colony of some 1,000 silent Wagtails currently roost.
Alas, already two large trees in Liberty Square; same previously used by the Wagtails to nightly roost, have been removed as part of the long drawn out Liberty Square revitalisation. So sadly, it is not just businesses that are rapidly leaving the Thurles town centre area; displaced Pied Wagtails are also migrating.
It was with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, on Sunday 18th July 2021, of Mr Thomas (Tom) Ryan, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England and formerly of Dromwood, Rossmore, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by his wife Noreen, brothers James, Martin and Jack, sisters Nell (Ellen) and Molly (Mary); Mr Ryan passed away peacefully, while in his 96th year.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his immediate family, Liam, Áine, Séamus and Maura, grandchildren Jennifer, Dermot and William, son-in-law Toby, daughter-in-law Maxine, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends both in Co. Dublin and here in Co. Tipperary.

It was with the deepest regret that we learned of the death, yesterday Friday 30th July 2021, of Mr Philip Maher, No.72 Kennedy Park, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by his sisters Eileen and Marie; Mr Maher passed away peacefully following a short illness most bravely borne and while surrounded by his loving family in the care of staff at the Milford Care Center.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his devoted wife Anne, sons P.J., Michael, Philip and Ruairí, daughter Jennifer, grandchildren Aoife, Kate, Philip-Michael, Tom, John, Jennifer, Clodagh, Alex, Ella, Niamh, Lucia and Amelia, brothers James and Patrick, sisters Anne, Bunty and Noreen, daughters-in-law, son-in-law, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.
