Tipperary Garda Search Yields Cannabis Herb Valued €4100.

Yesterday Gardaí from the Clonmel District, with the assistance of the Garda Dog Unit, Henry Street, carried out a number of searches in the Fethard, Moyglass, Drangan and Mullinahone areas.

At approximately 7.30am Gardaí searched an address at Burke Street, Fethard. During the course of this search cannabis herb, with an estimated street value of €4100.00, was located along with evidence of cannabis having been cultivated within the house.

In relation to this incident, a woman, understood to be aged in her 40’s, was arrested and detained at Clonmel before being released pending the submission of a file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Following this incident a further search was carried out in the Mullinahone area. During the course of same, controlled drugs including cannabis resin, cannabis herb, amphetamines and ecstasy were located, latter with an estimated street value of €800.00. In addition €1000.00 in cash, a stun gun, and two canisters of pepper spray were also located.

No arrests were made in this case, but Gardaí are known to be following a definite line of enquiry.

In addition a number of searches were carried out in Moyglass, Fethard, Drangan and Mullinahone, resulting in additional seizures of cannabis and cocaine.

Gardaí Warning On Covid-19 Text Messages scam.

Gardaí have issued warnings regarding recent text message scams which involves Covid tests and vaccine appointments.

The messages purport to have originated from Health Service Executive (HSE) staff and advise the public to book an early appointment for a Covid-19 test through a link highlighted within the text message.

The Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (GNECB) are warning the public that once the recipients click on the highlighted link they will be brought to a cloned website where the fraudsters will seek personal information, including PPS numbers and a payment for Covid-19 tests or vaccinations.

In most instances the supplied links look very similar to the authentic HSE URL but may be misspelled.

Gardaí wish the public to understand fully that the HSE will never look for payment for Covid-19 tests or vaccinations and the public should be wary of replying to such text messages.

4,495 Cases Of Covid-19 Confirmed On Island Of Ireland In Last 24 Hours.

This evening the Department of Health has confirmed 2,098 new coronavirus cases here in the Republic of Ireland in the past 24 hours.

The number of people being treated for the virus in our hospitals today stands at 251, up 7 on yesterdays confirmed figure; with 52 of these patients located in our intensive care units.

Today is the second time in a week, the Irish Republic has reported over 2,000 cases; previously not seen since late January of this year, 2021.

Over 90% of adults in the Republic are partially vaccinated, while just over 84% of our adult population have been fully vaccinated.

In Northern Ireland, there have been 2,397 new cases of the virus; their highest daily case load since the first outbreak of the virus. Sadly, 9 more people have lost their lives according to the latest update from the Northern Ireland Department of Health announced this afternoon.

There are 388 patients with Covid-19 in northern hospitals, with 47 in their intensive care units. All occupancy in the North’s hospitals now stand at over-capacity.

The above confirmed figures bring to 4,495, in total, the number of new Covid-19 cases present on the whole island of Ireland, reported over the past 24 hours; up an added 714 cases based on yesterday’s tally.

To protect everyone and to safeguard the progress made to date on our island, please follow fully all public health advice to limit transmission of Covid-19 and to those who remain unvaccinated, the best and right time to get your jab is now.
