Death Of Paddy Gleeson, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we learned of the death, today, Friday 27th August 2021, of Mr Paddy Gleeson, Barna, Templetuohy, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his son Jim; the passing of Mr Gleeson is most deeply regretted by his loving wife Peggy, daughters Josephine and Mary, sons Pat, Johnny and Rody, grandchildren, Damien, Padraig, Jimmy, Shauna, Megan, Carmel, Martin, JP, Amy, Rory, Joseph and Emma, sisters Nancy and Josie, daughters-in-law Delores and Christine, sons-in-law Michael and Diarmuid, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Gleeson will repose for Requiem Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Church Lane, Templetuohy, Thurles on Monday morning next, August 30th, at 11:30am. Mass will be followed by interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

3,750 New Covid-19 Cases Confirmed On Island Of Ireland Over Past 24 Hours.

The Department of Health has confirmed a further 1,875 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours in the Republic of Ireland. There are 326 people in our hospitals, having tested positive for the disease, of whom 59 are currently in our intensive care units.

In Northern Ireland today, there were confirmed also another 1,875 new infections, together with, sadly, 5 further Covid-related deaths.

The above confirmed figures bring to 3,750, in total, the number of new Covid-19 cases present on the whole island of Ireland, reported over the past 24 hours.

Two Men Arrested – Heroin, Cocaine, & Two Vehicles Seized.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, August 24th last, 2021, shortly after 5.30pm members of the Garda District Drugs Unit and Unit A, Clonmel carried out a search on a number of individuals at the Ard Gaoithe Business Park, Cashel Road, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. Same persons had been observed as acting in a suspicious manner in the area.

Following the Garda search, heroin and crack cocaine, with a street value of approximately €1450, was seized.

A male in his mid 20’s was arrested at the scene and later detained at Clonmel Garda Station. Two motor vehicles were also seized by Gardaí at the same location.

One other of the males present, understood to be in his early 20’s, was later arrested on suspicion of assault, following an incident which occurred here in Thurles town, earlier in the month.

Death Of Nora Shanahan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with the deepest regret and sadness that we learned of the death, today, Thursday 26th August 2021, of Mrs Nora Shanahan (née Treacy), Ballyboy, Upperchurch, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her gentle husband Willie; Mrs Shanahan, a wonderful mother and an extraordinary woman, passed away peacefully at her place of residence surrounded by her loving family, following a short illness most bravely borne.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her immediate family; Michael, Tim, Liam and Josephine, daughters-in-law Patrice, Mary and Mary, son-in-law Michael, her dearly loved 13 grandchildren Laura, Paul, Brian, Darren, Conor, Aoife, Ciara, David, Ciarán, Luke, Kate, Owen and Eabha, her brothers Dinny and Paddy, sister Freda, sisters-in-law Peg and Mary, brother-in-law Pat, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Shanahan will repose at the residence of her son Liam, in Ballyboy, Upperchurch, Thurles on tomorrow evening, Friday, August 27th, for family and close friends, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
Removal will take place on Saturday morning, August 28th, to be received into the Church of the Sacred Heart, Upperchurch. Thurles, to further repose for Requiem Mass attended by family members, at 11:00am.
Immediately following Mass, interment will take place in the local nearby cemetery.

Death Of Nora Ryan, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with the deepest regret and sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Wednesday 25th August 2021, of Mrs Nora Ryan (née O’Dwyer), Ashe Road, Nenagh, Tipperary and formerly Sarsfield Street, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary and Upperchurch, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Predeceased by her husband Paddy, son Philip, sister Chris, brothers Phil and Pakie; Mrs Ryan passed away peacefully while in the tender care of the Nurses and Staff at Nenagh General Hospital.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her son Gerry, daughter-in-law Helen, granddaughters Susan and Katie, great-grandchildren Jake and Isabella in Jersey, Sean, Robyn, Joseph and Carly in Tralee, sister Ellie, brother Jim, sisters-in-law Mairead and Anna, nephews, nieces, Susan’s partner Neil and Katie’s husband Tommy, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Interment will take place immediately afterwards in Lisboney Cemetery, Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
