It was with the deepest regret and sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 2nd September 2021, of Sr. Bosco Holohan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly Ballinard, Fethard, Co. Tipperary.
Sr. Bosco Holohan passed away while in the care of staff at Padre Pio Nursing Home, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her nieces Catherine and Majella, nephews Michael, Paul, Seán, Patrick, Ailbe, Rory, Joseph and Thomas, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended relatives, her Presentation Community and Congregation, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Sr. Bosco will repose in the Presentation Convent Chapel, Thurles on this afternoon Saturday, September 4th, for family and close friends from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.
The funeral cortège, bearing the earthly remains of Sr. Bosco will be received into the Church of the Visitation, Cloneen, to further repose for Requiem Mass on Sunday September 5th at 12:00 noon,followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) has confirmed that four cases of the Mu or B.1.621 variant of Covid have been identified in Ireland.
The World Health Organisation (WHO), to date, has designated this fifth strain of coronavirus as a ‘variant of interest’ but not a ‘variant of concern’. However, they have stated that the variant does have a constellation of mutations, which could make it more vaccine resistant than other strains of the virus currently in circulation, adding that further studies will be needed to confirm any concerns.
The variant, to date, has been recorded in 39 other countries and health authorities are currently trying to determine whether it is more resistant to vaccination than other known strains of coronavirus.
Since it was first identification in Colombia in January 2021, there have been a few sporadic reports of cases of the Mu variant and some larger outbreaks have been reported countries in South America and in Europe.
The Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) report that these 4 cases were recorded before the end of August.
The Department of Health has confirmed 1,414 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, here in the Republic of Ireland.
There are 353 people reported in our hospital who have tested positive for the disease, a rise of 10 in number since yesterday. Of these, 55 are being treated in intensive care units.
While Ireland recorded the highest 14-day incidence of Covid-19 in Europe last week, [according to data released by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)], some 89% of adults aged 18 years and older are now fully vaccinated; while those aged 12 years and older, 82% are fully vaccinated.
Here within the Irish Republic, up to yesterday, September 2nd, 2021, there have been 3,698,849 first dose vaccines administered; 3,172,584 second dose vaccines administered, making a total in all of 6,871,433 persons vaccinated, a truly remarkable vaccination figure.
In Northern Ireland, there have been 1,248 new cases of the virus reported in the past 24 hours.
There were 409 Covid-positive people admitted to their hospitals this morning, 46 of whom are in intensive care units. There are also, sadly, 9 deaths also reported within the same period, all virus related.
Here at home in Co. Tipperary local electoral areas (LEA) data showing 14 day virus data, (between August 17th 2021 and August 30th 2021), indicate that Clonmel in the south of the county has had the highest Covid-19 infection rate in Ireland, outside of Ulster, with 348 new cases
Over the same 14 day period Thurles has experienced 142 new cases; Newport 81; Nenagh 90; Cashel-Tipperary 97; Cahir 48; Roscrea-Templemore 48 and Carrick-on-Suir 49.

Pre-deceased by her husband Mixie; Mrs Ryan passed away while in the care of staff at Padre Pio Nursing Home, Holycross, Thurles Co. Tipperary.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly renains of Mrs Ryan will repose in Kennedy’s Funeral Home, Castlequarter Borrisoleigh, Thurles on tomorrow evening Saturday, September 4th, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, for family and close friends.
Her body will be received into the Church of the Sacred Heart, Borrisoleigh, Thurles on Sunday afternoon for Requiem Mass at 1:30pm, followed by interment immediately afterwards in nearby St. Brigid’s Cemetery, Borrisoleigh, Thurles Co. Tipperary.

The passing of Mr Clear is most deeply regretted by his loving wife Claire, immediate family; Elizabeth, Bill, Michelle and Brian, grandchildren Katie, Lucy, Sarah, Patrick and Michael daughter-in-law Ann-Marie, son-in-law Jason, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

His body will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles, on Saturday morning, September 4th, at 10:30am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary
