Today 2,662 Covid-19 Cases Reported On Mainland Of Ireland.

The Department of Health has confirmed 1,414 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, here in the Republic of Ireland.

There are 353 people reported in our hospital who have tested positive for the disease, a rise of 10 in number since yesterday. Of these, 55 are being treated in intensive care units.

While Ireland recorded the highest 14-day incidence of Covid-19 in Europe last week, [according to data released by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC)], some 89% of adults aged 18 years and older are now fully vaccinated; while those aged 12 years and older, 82% are fully vaccinated.

Here within the Irish Republic, up to yesterday, September 2nd, 2021, there have been 3,698,849 first dose vaccines administered; 3,172,584 second dose vaccines administered, making a total in all of 6,871,433 persons vaccinated, a truly remarkable vaccination figure.

In Northern Ireland, there have been 1,248 new cases of the virus reported in the past 24 hours.

There were 409 Covid-positive people admitted to their hospitals this morning, 46 of whom are in intensive care units. There are also, sadly, 9 deaths also reported within the same period, all virus related.

Here at home in Co. Tipperary local electoral areas (LEA) data showing 14 day virus data, (between August 17th 2021 and August 30th 2021), indicate that Clonmel in the south of the county has had the highest Covid-19 infection rate in Ireland, outside of Ulster, with 348 new cases
Over the same 14 day period Thurles has experienced 142 new cases; Newport 81; Nenagh 90; Cashel-Tipperary 97; Cahir 48; Roscrea-Templemore 48 and Carrick-on-Suir 49.
