Irish Mainland Covid-19 Cases Reach 2,528 Over Last 24 Hour Period.

The Department of Health here in the Republic of Ireland has confirmed 1,456 new cases of Covid-19, within the past 24 hours.

There are 261 people being treated for the virus in our hospitals, down 27 on yesterday. The number of people in our intensive care units currently remains at 66, down seven on yesterday’s reported figures.

Mr Paul Reid (Health Service Executive CEO) has stated that a hugely disproportionate number of unvaccinated patients are entering intensive care suffering from the virus, and he is urging people who still have NOT come forward for vaccination as yet, to do so at their earliest convenience.

In a positive move by the current Irish Government Mr Simon Harris (Minister for Further Education) has confirmed that pop-up vaccination centres will open on many college campuses later this month.

Over 7 million vaccine doses have been administered to date here in the Irish Republic; with more than 83% of people aged between 16-29 having already received their first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, while more than 79% have currently been fully vaccinated.

In Northern Ireland, their Department of Health has confirmed a further 1,072 cases of Covid-19 within the past 24 hours. Sadly here also 6 further deaths have also been reported in people who tested positive for the disease.

Gardaí Seize Cannabis At Cashel Road, Clonmel.

On the evening of September 16th last (2021) Clonmel Gardaí acting on reliable information, executed a search warrant at an address in the Cashel Road area of Clonmel, in south Co. Tipperary.

Upon searching a house in that area, approximately €1750 worth of cannabis was found and seized by Gardaí.

A man has since been arrested under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and taken to Clonmel Garda Station for questioning.
The man was subsequently released from Garda custody without charge, pending a full investigation file being sent to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Thurles search warrant reveals cocaine mixed with baking soda.

Meanwhile, here in Thurles on September 1st last (2021), Gardaí executed a search warrant under the misuse of drugs act, at No.3 St. Bridget’s Terrace, Thurles, at the home address occupied by Mr Ned Reilly.

During the search Gardaí located five small zip lock bags containing a white powder, later discovered to be a mix of cocaine and baking soda, with an estimated street value of €375 and destined for local Thurles sale.

Mr Reilly has since appeared in court and was sentenced to four months in prison, same suspended for two years on condition that Mr Reilly enter into a Section 99 peace bond of €250.

Death Of Celia Dunne, Late Of Thurles Co. Tipperary.

It is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, today Friday 17th September 2021, of Mrs Julia (Celia) Dunne (Née Caplis), Goatstown, Co. Dublin and late of Hollyford, Thurles Co. Tipperary.

In her 93rd year and pre-deceased by her sister Maureen; Mrs Dunne passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Merrion Rd, Dublin 4.

Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving husband of 65 years, Jack, immediate loving family Conor, Gerard and Ronan, their partners Karen, Irene and Elaine, grandchildren Alistair, Charlotte, Laura, Stephen, Patrick and Sarah, great-grandson Jacob, her siblings Ailbe, Pauline, T.J., Joan and Gerard, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Dunne will repose at Fanagan’s Funeral Home, 5/6 Lower Main Street, Dundrum, Dublin 14, Dublin on Monday afternoon, September 21st, between 3:00pm and 5:00pm for family and close friends only.
Her body will be received into the Church of the Holy Cross, Dundrum, Co. Dublin on Tuesday morning, September 22nd, to further repose for Funeral Mass at 11:30am; followed by interment in Deansgrange Cemetery, 2 Dean’s Grange Road, Kill of the Grange, Dublin.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mrs Dunne, but are unable to do so, due to current virus restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

Death Of Ned Corbett, Formerly Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, today Friday 17th September 2021, of Mr Edward (Ned) Corbett, Prussia Street, Dublin 7, Co. Dublin and late of Clonsilla, Dublin 15, Co. Dublin and formerly of Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Corbett passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at the Mater Hospital, Eccles St, Dublin 7 .
Edward (Ned), beloved father of Eamonn, Clair, Vinny, Mairead and the late Stephen. Sadly missed by his loving children and their mother Phyllis, grandchildren Ned and Jack, son-in-law Billy, daughter-in-law Landie, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Death Of Denis Sheehy, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 16th September 2021, of Mr Denis Sheehy, The Glebe, Cooleeney, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Killoran, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Predeceased by his devoted wife Mary (née Crosse), brother Tom, parents Paddy and Cathy; Mr Sheehy passed away suddenly following a short illness, while in the care of staff at South Tipperary General Hospital.

His passing will be most sadly missed by his loving family, daughters Catherine (Foy), Margaret (Wright) and Mary Ellen (Brolan), grandchildren Thomás, Mairead, Mairi, Bill and Denis, sons in law Tom, John and Joe, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law Bridget, Peggy, Mary and Jane, brothers-in-law Jerry and Willie, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.

Interment will follow immediately afterwards in Cooleeney cemetery, Moyne, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
