The parent writes:- “My son is starting his first year in LIT Thurles.
Unfortunately, it is practically impossible to find accommodation. We have searched everywhere without success. Getting very anxious as he starts next Monday.
Can any of your readers help or advise us. Your help would be much appreciated. Thanking you. …………”

It is with great sadness and regret that we learned of the death, yesterday Sunday 19th September 2021, of Mrs Phyllis Galvin, ‘The Shambles’, Blackcastle, Two Mile Borris, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her husband Michael, sisters Noreen, Betty, Mary, Margaret, Anne and Kathleen, brother Paddy; Mrs Galvin, passed away peacefully at her place of residence.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving family; brothers Michael, Tommy and Anthony, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, sisters-in-law Sharman and Ann, beloved Henry and Peter, extended relatives, neighbours and many friends.
Requiescat in Pace.
Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mrs Galvin will repose at her residence on Wednesday afternoon, 22nd September, from 12:00 noon to 6:00pm for family and friends.
Her body will be received into the Church of St. James, Two-Mile-Borris, Thurles on Thursday morning, September 23rd, at 11:00am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:30am.
Interment will follow immediately afterwards in Two-Mile-Borris Cemetery, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Mrs Galvin, but are unable to do so, due to current virus restrictions; same can be viewed online. [Link to be confirmed later]

The Department of Health in the Republic of Ireland have confirmed 1,154 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours.
There are 297 people in our hospitals with Covid-19, an increase of 19 patients since yesterday, with 63 of these being treated in intensive care.
Vaccine companies Pfizer and BioNTech have stated that recent trial results indicate that their coronavirus vaccine is safe, and produces a robust immune response in children aged 5 to 11 years. They added that they will seek approval from regulatory bodies in the European Union, the United States and elsewhere around the world shortly. The vaccine is expected to be administered at a lower dosage than for children aged over 12 years.
Meanwhile, the wearing of face masks in secondary school will remain compulsory for the present, although the same requirement have been ruled out for those attending primary school.
The benefits of primary schoolchildren wearing face masks as a Covid-19 protection measure are considered to be small, according to a Hiqa review, latter which looked at their use in under 13-year-olds, which is the current cut-off point.
In Northern Ireland today their Department of Health has confirmed another 1,020 cases of coronavirus, up from the figure of 889 reported yesterday.
A total of 22,296 cases of the virus have been confirmed in Northern Ireland since the pandemic first began.
There were 379 patients with Covid-19 in hospitals today, compared to 419 on Friday.
Sadly, 5 more coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland, also today.

Mr Maguire passed away unexpectedly at his place of residence.
Pre-deceased by his grandparents Edward and Mary Maguire and Anthony Lanphier; his passing is most deeply regretted by his heartbroken family; his mother Angela, father Paddy, sister Charlotte and her partner Christopher, grandmother Phil (Lanphier), uncles, aunts, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Interment will follow immediately afterwards in St. Peter’s cemetery, Moycarkey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
