It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today, Thursday 11th November 2021, of Fr Michael Norton, Rosbercon, Co. Kilkenny and late of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Predeceased by his parents Michael and Margaret, his uncles Monsignor Tom Hughes, Monsignor Nicholas Hughes, Very Rev Martin Hughes and Very Rev James Hughes and first cousin Monsignor Martin Campion; Fr. Michael passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at Archersrath Nursing home, Kilkenny.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving family, brother Pascheal, sisters Mary (Clancy) and Margaret (Walsh), brother-in-law Pacelli, nieces, nephew, neighbours, extended relatives, parishioners, fellow priests and the religious of the Diocese.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Fr Michael will repose at Doyle’s Funeral Home, “The Old Rectory”, Rosbercon, Co. Kilkenny on tomorrow evening, Friday, November 12th, for friends and family, from 4:00pm with removal at 7:00pm to the Church of the Assumption, Rosbercon, Co. Kilkenny.
Requiem Mass will take place Saturday, 13th November, at 12:00 noon, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the nearby Churchyard.
For the many persons who would have liked to have attended the funeral service for Fr Michael, but are unable to do so, due to current virus restrictions; funeral Mass can be viewed online HERE.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Wednesday 10th November 2021, of Mr Michael Corbett, London and formerly of “The Spa”, Turraheen, Rossmore, Co. Tipperary and Thurles, Co.Tipperary.
Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Annie Mary, brothers Ned, Johnny and Bill, sisters Josephine and Maryanne; Mr Corbett passed away unexpectedly at his late sister Maryanne’s residence, No. 16, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his loving family; wife Maura, son Ciaran, daughter Aine, grandchildren, daughter-in-law Sharon, brother Tommy, sisters Nora (Lyons) and Teresa (Droney), uncle Michael, aunt Bridie, nephews, nieces, sister-in-law Marian, brothers-in-law Ned and Tom, extended relatives and friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Corbett will be received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles on Wednesday, November 17th, at 10.30am, to repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
A further funeral service and interment will take place in London at a later date.

The Department of Health has confirmed 3,680 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, here in the Republic of Ireland.
The number of people in our hospitals, who have tested positive for the disease, stands at 543, down 8 since yesterday and of these, 97 are receiving treatment in our intensive care units around the country, latter figure an increase of 8 on yesterdays reported figures.
The Government is not actively considering a return to working from home full-time, the Minister for Health Mr Stephen Donnelly has confirmed, adding that he has not received any further advice from public health officials on this matter; thus the Government is not considering extending the Covid-19 vaccine passes to any other areas.
The Department of Health in Northern Ireland has confirmed 1,462 new coronavirus cases and sadly a further 6 related deaths.
In the Netherlands, the Dutch pandemic expert advisory panel has recommended imposing western Europe’s first partial lockdown since the summer, putting pressure on the government to take drastic and unpopular action to fight a Covid-19 surge. The 16,364 new cases over the previous 24 hours, announced by the Rijksinstituut voor Volksgezondheid en Milieu (RIVM) Dutch public health institute, has broken the previous record of 12,997, same set on December 20th last year.
The EU’s drug watchdog has approved two Covid-19 antibody treatments, in its first approvals of the ground-breaking therapies that help stop infected people developing symptoms of the disease.
“Ronapreve” made by Swiss pharma giant Roche with US biotech firm Regeneron, and “Regkirona“, developed by South Korea’s Celltrion, have both gotten the green light from the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Sunday 31st October 2021, of Mrs Jane E. Ensor (née Hogan), Branchburg USA and formerly Drangan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary
Pre-deceased by her husband Derek Ensor and her siblings Peter Hogan, Michael Hogan, Norah Sackley, Margaret Hackett and John Hogan; Mrs Ensor is survived by her daughters Patricia Kemble and husband Jim, Rowena Redlich and husband Mike, sons Shaun Ensor and wife Rebecca Carey and Kevin Ensor and wife JeanMarie, siblings Mary Zvirblys, Ellen Preston and Jeremiah Hogan, eight grandchildren, Danielle Kemble, Tara Kemble, Nicholas Kemble, Ian Lafferty, Molly Lafferty, Deirdre Lafferty, Kiernan Ensor and Caitlin Ensor.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Wednesday 10th November 2021, of Mrs Maura Shanahan (née Fitzgerald), Kingstown, Cashel, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Clonora House, Glengoole, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
While in her 93rd year; Mrs Shanahan passed away peacefully at her place of residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Her passing is most sadly missed by her heartbroken husband Roger, family Tom, John, Helen and Alma, son-in-law Ken, daughters-in-law Teresa and Caitriona, grandchildren Ciara, Liam, Dara, Daniel and Gráinne, sister Nan Dunne, brother-in-law Seamus, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.
