The Department of Health has confirmed 3,138 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, here in the Republic of Ireland.
There were 643 people in hospital with Covid-19, and of these 118 people are being treated in ICUs.
Canada has now authorised the use of Pfizer’s Covid-19 vaccine for children aged between five to 11, thus paving the way for the inoculation of primary children across the country.
Infectious Disease Consultant Professor Sam McConkey has stated that there is an epidemic of the unvaccinated and a large epidemic in the under 12 year olds, who haven’t been offered the vaccine.
Meanwhile, Israel will begin vaccinating children aged 5 to 11 against Covid-19 from Tuesday, Prime Minister Mr Naftali Bennett has stated. Israeli data has shown that administering Pfizer/BioNTech booster shots has widely slowed virus transmission.
The American Food and Drug Administration has authorised booster doses of Covid-19 vaccines for all adults just six months after individuals have been fully vaccinated with the shots from either Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna. Nearly 60% of adult Americans or some 195.6 million people are considered fully vaccinated.
In a statement, Dr Holohan has warned that people with symptoms must stay at home, self-isolate and get a PCR test – not an antigen test.
In Northern Ireland a further 1,690 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed today, up from 1,681 yesterday.
There are 410 patients with Covid-19 in northern hospitals with 33 of these patients in hospital intensive care units.
Sadly, 7 Covid-19-related deaths have been reported in Northern Ireland also today.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Thursday 18th November 2021, of Mr Teddy Coppinger, Dehreen, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Mr Coppinger passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff of Ardeen Nursing Home, Abbey Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary
Predeceased by his parents Edward and Anne, sisters Kitty and Joan, brother Jossy; his passing is most deeply regretted by his loving family; sisters Nancy (Jordan) and Bridget (Burke), brothers Jimmy and Paddy, nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, cousins, the Ardeen community, neighbours and friends.

Funeral Arrangements.
The earthly remains of Mr Coppinger will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Saturday evening, 20th November, from 5:30pm to 7:30pm, before being received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles at 8:00pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on Monday morning, November 22nd, at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
For the many persons who would have liked to have attended Mass for Mr Coppinger, but are unable to do so, due to current virus restrictions; same can be viewed online HERE.

As previously published, on November 12th last, the 14 Day incidence of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Local Electoral Areas (LEAs) here in Co. Tipperary, between October 26th 2021 and November 8th, 2021 were reasonably low, but obviously on the rise.
Note Also: the figures then shown in red represented the previous 14 day incidence rate, between the period October 19th, 2021 and November 1st, 2021, in same local electoral areas (LEAs).
In each of the Tipperary LEAs the incidence rates had substantially increased and in the case of the Thurles LEA confirmed figures; same had doubled in just seven days, noticeably over the Halloween holiday festival period.
These figures published on November 12th last then read: –

The 14 Day incidence of confirmed COVID-19 cases by same local electoral areas (LEAs), in Tipperary, between November 2nd 2021 and November 15th 2021, now demonstrate the need for Tipperary residents to listen to the wisdom of the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) and the Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Health, Dr Tony Holohan.
Read the true facts and compare the major increases in the new incidence rates published in the 14 days between November 2nd 2021 and November 15th 2021, shown hereunder: –
Newport 150; – Clonmel 150; – Roscrea/Templemore 179; – Cashel/Tipperary 180; – Cahir 200; – Carrick-On-Suir 213; – Thurles 215; – Nenagh 317;
As people can see, the Thurles LEA incident rate, in November to date has increased from being the lowest in the county, with just 54 cases; to being the second highest in Co. Tipperary, with 215 cases.
Same increases were greatly assisted by Halloween festivities/activities and the fully opening up of the hospitality sector.
A survey from the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), confirmed in early November, that the number of people not having Covid passes checked in pubs, and nightclubs, as was then requested, had shot up from 21% to 37%, thus greatly contributing to the pandemic increases we are experiencing countrywide today.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Wednesday 17th November 2021, of Ms Bridget (Bridie) Walsh, Cahir Abbey Upper, Cahir, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Ard Mhuire, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Pre-deceased by her parents Richard and Madge, Ms Walsh passes away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Ardeen Nursing Home, Thurles.

Readers will remember, with the deepest regret, reading of the death on Monday 30th, August 2021, of Ms Margaret Hickey, Sydney, Australia and formerly of Toureen, Hollyford, Co. Tipperary.
The passing of Ms Hickey continues to be most deeply regretted by her brothers Frank, Richard and Willie, her sister Catherine, nieces Jessica, Michelle and Ciara, nephews Michael, Robert, Davie and Walter, grandnephew Jack, sisters-in-law, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and her large circle of great friends.

Ms Hickey reposed for Requiem Mass in Sydney, Australia, on Wednesday, September 8th, last, at 11:00am, Australian time; with an online live stream remaining available to view HERE.
The ashes of Ms Hickey have now been repatriated to her native village and will repose for Requiem Mass at 12:00 noon on Sunday next, November 21st, in St. Joseph’s Church, Hollyford, Co. Tipperary, followed by interment in Kilcommon Cemetery, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
