Death Of John Spillane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, today Saturday 4th October 2025, of Mr John Spillane, Galbertstown Lower, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and late of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Hannah, sisters Maragaret, Joan and Meryl (Mary), brothers-in-law Edward (Neddie) and Jerry; Mr Spillane passed away peacefully at his place of ordinary residence, following a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving and devoted wife Mary (née Flanagan), children Teresa, Patrick, Catherine, Thomas, Hannah, Caroline, John, Colette, Oliver and Aidan, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and partners, sisters Nora (Dwan) and Kitty, brother-in-law Liam (Dwan), nephews, nieces, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Spillane will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Monday afternoon next, October 6th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm same evening.
His remains will be received into the former Cistercian Monastery Abbey, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary on Tuesday morning, October 7th, at 11:00am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.

Death Of May Phelan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Friday 3rd October 2025, of Mrs Mary (May) Phelan (née Quinn), Bellevue, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

In her 101st year and pre-deceased by her husband Martin; Mrs Phelan passed away peacefully while in the care of staff of South Tipperary General Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, surrounded by her loving family.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving sons Larry, Edmond and Jim, daughters Eily, Kathleen and Carmel, daughters-in-law Ann and Rena sons-in-law Gerry and Darragh grand-children, great-grand-children, nieces, nephews, sister, brothers, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Phelan will repose at Brett’s Funeral Home, Kickham Street, Mullinahone, Thurles (Eircode E41 EV78), on Sunday afternoon, October 5th, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm, before being received into the Church of St Michael, Kickham Street, Mullinahone Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Requiem Mass for Mrs Phelan will be offered on Monday morning, October 6th, at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in St Michael’s Cemetery, Killaghy, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Friday 3rd October 2025, of Mr Vincent Costello No. 11 Derrynaflan Avenue, Littleton, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Richard and Mary and his son Vincent; the passing of Mr Costello is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Margaret, daughters Janice and Mamie, grandchildren, son-in-law Mark, brothers, sisters, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 3rd October 2025, of Mr James (Jimmy) Ryan, Dromdiha, Drombane, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Turraheen, Rossmore, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Josephine, sister Peg Keane and son-in-law James Lynn; Mr Ryan passed away peacefully following a short illness, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving and devoted wife Mary, daughters Margaret (Lynn), Josephine (Pollard) and Teresa (Gillespie), son John, sons-in-law John Pollard and Gabriel Gillespie, grandchildren Dean, Caoimhe, Maeve, Grace, and Rose, sister Sheila, brother Timothy, sister-in-law Josephine, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

It was with sadness that we learned of the death, today Friday 3rd October 2025, of Mr Jackie Cooke, Childers Park, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mr Cooke passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at the Community Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles.

Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Alice (née Shanahan), parents Eddie and Mary, sister Biddy and brother Tom; his passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving son Trevor, daughter Olivia, daughter-in-law Marcella, brother Eddie, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law Kathleen and Nell, extended relatives, colleagues in Thurles Sarsfield’s Social Center, great neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

His remains will be received into the Church of St Joseph and St Brigid, Bothar na Naomh, Thurles, on Monday morning, October 6th at 10:30am to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:00am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in St Patrick’s Cemetery, Moyne Road, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
