Death Of Tommy Ryan, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, on Thursday 9th December 2021, of Mr Tommy Ryan, Beakstown, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Patrick and Mary, his brothers John and Michael, sister Maura and sister-in-law Eileen; the passing of Mr Ryan will be sadly missed by his brothers Billy and Patsy, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives neighbours and friends.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mr Ryan will repose for Requiem Mass in Holycross Abbey, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, on Monday morning, December 13th at 10:00am, followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended Requiem Mass for Mr Ryan, but are unable to do so; same can be viewed online HERE.

Death Of Marian Murray, Late Of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Friday 10th December 2021, Mrs Marian Murray (nee Ryan), Wetherton, Bandon, Co. Cork; Ballinspittle, Co. Cork and late of Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Mrs Murray passed away peacefully at Cork University Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Pre-deceased by her baby daughter Michelle; her passing is most deeply regretted by her husband Paddy; daughters Michelle and Yvonne, sons Aidan and Fintan, 5 grandchildren, brothers Stephen and Gerard, sister Brigid, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mrs Murray will repose at Gabriel and O’Donovan’s Funeral Home, Castle Road, Upper O’Mahony Avenue, Cloghmacsimon, Bandon, Co. Cork, on Sunday evening, December 12th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm.

Her body will be received into St Patrick’s Church, St Patrick’s Quay, Cloughmacsimon, Bandon, Co. Cork, to further repose for Requiem Mass on Monday afternoon, December 13th, at 3:00pm, followed by private cremation.

Tomorrow Saturday 11th December Holycross Village Christmas Market.

It’s almost here!! A community celebration, we are excited.

Our bigger, longer, outdoor Christmas Market is on tomorrow, Saturday December 11th, starting sharp at 1:00pm and continuing unto 4:00pm.

Families are welcome to the safety of the market for festivities. We are delighted that Santa Claus will visit us to meet both the small and the big children in our community.
Watch out for hampers, prizes and many surprises throughout the afternoon.
Local musicians are joining for a sing song and promising a great atmosphere.
Two favoured food vendors will have tasty hot lunches and 30 local fresh food & craft vendors will have both unique and festive handmade gifts and fresh produce to choose from.
So please shop local with us if you can.
Christmas Wish Ribbons will be available to hang on our Christmas tree with proceeds to a local charity.

Death Of John Grace, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great personal sadness that I learned of the death yesterday, Thursday 9th December 2021, of Mr John Grace, Castlepark, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Friar Street, Nenagh, Co Tipperary.

Predeceased by his parents Tommy and Moll, brother Tony; Mr Grace passed away unexpectedly at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing will be most sadly missed by his devoted wife Geraldine, sons Robbie, Nigel and David, their partners Sabrina and Laura, his brothers Martin and Seamie, nephews, nieces, sisters-in-law Mona, Joan, Susan and Emily, brother-in-law Barry, extended relatives, good neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Grace will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on Sunday evening, December 12th, from 4:00pm to 6:00pm, before being received into the Cathedral of the Assumption, Cathedral Street, Thurles on Monday morning, December 13th, at 10:30am for Requiem Mass at 11:00am.
Private Cremation will follow.

Today, Killer Covid-19 Cases On Irish Mainland Rise To 5,921.

The Department of Health has confirmed 4,115 new cases of Covid-19, here in the Irish Republic, over the past 24 hours.

There remain 511 people in hospital having tested positive for the virus, down 19 since yesterday and of these 110 remain in our hospital intensive care units, a reduction of 5 on yesterday.

With Dublin Airport expecting an estimated 850,000 people (an increase of some 615,000 passengers when compared to last year), to travel into Ireland this Christmas; Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan has stated that the use of antigen tests, for five days post-arrival, for travellers from Britain, will greatly increase the chances of picking up cases of the Omicron variant being imported into Ireland. He warned that a visitor who arrives into Ireland and develops symptoms of Covid-19, must immediately self-isolate and do a PCR test.

According to Ireland’s COVID-19 National Statistics, Information & Data base; the ’14 Day Incidence rate’, between November 23rd, 2021 and December 6th, 2021, of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Tipperary’s eight local electoral areas, reads (ranked in ascending order) as follows: –

Roscrea-Templemore: 222; – Thurles: 228; – Newport: 244; – Cahir: 286; – Carrick-on-Suir: 317; – Cashel-Tipperary: 342; – Nenagh: 419; – Clonmel: 427.

A further 1,806 new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Northern Ireland today, down from 1,819 reported on yesterday.

Today, there were 317 patients with Covid-19 in northern hospitals, down from 338 on Thursday.

There were 40 patients with Covid-19 in hospital intensive care units, up 2 on yesterday.
Sadly, 2 more Covid-19-related deaths have been also reported in Northern Ireland today.

It is now essential that we continue to listen to science and keep ourselves and our families safe by regularly washing our hands; wearing a mask when appropriate, and cut down on unnecessary social contacts.
