Death Of Mary Guidera, Hollyford, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death yesterday, Sunday 12th December 2021, of Mrs Mary Guidera (née O’Dwyer), Late of Dublin; Knock, Co.Tipperary and Hollyford, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband William; Mrs Guidera passed away peacefully while in the care of staff of Our Lady’s Manor, Dalkey, Co. Dublin.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her immediate family; Liam, Anita and Seamus, her daughters-in-law Madeleine and Mary, son-in-law Don, adored grandchildren Seamus, Mollie, Hugh, Meadhbh and Tim, great-grandson Robin, her sisters Joan and Breda, brother Seamus, extended relatives neighbours and friends.

Requiescat in Pace.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Guidera will repose for Requiem Mass on Wednesday morning December 15th in the Church of the Assumption, Castle Street, Dalkey Co. Dublin at 10:00am, followed by interment in Shanganagh Cemetery, Cork Little, Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown, Dublin.

For the many persons who would have liked to have attended Requiem Mass for Mrs Guidera, but are unable to do so; same can be viewed online HERE.

We shall not in drawing up to the red-coaled fire,
In a profusion of spirits, in the hollied room
Your presence dishonour with forgetfulness,
But rather shall we in music and wine
And in the memory of another place and happy time,
Toast you, our absent ones.
Nor, as the Carols reach to the Christmas stars
In praise of the glorious grandeur of the world,
Nor, as childrens’ voices herald a new awakening,
Shall we forget the warmth,
Of a time of togetherness,
But in a quiet prayer, pure as snow crystals
Give thanks for what you were to our hearts,
For what you’ll ever be
Unto the last Yuletide.
So, in a good spirit,
Glad for the plenty and the peace,
Joyous for our family and our friends.
With all the people of the earth
And in our merriment and mirth
We do remember you, our dear and absent ones.

Death Of P.J. Fogarty, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death today, Sunday 12th December 2021, of Mr P.J. Fogarty, Galbertstown, Holycross, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Tom and Annie, son-in-law Peter; Mr Fogarty passed away peacefully at his place of residence, surrounded by his loving family.

His passing is most deeply regretted by his devoted wife Eileen, sons Tom, Edward, Patrick and Daniel, daughters Maureen (O’Connell) and Ann (O’Grady), 15 grandchildren, daughters-in-law Anna, Elaine and Fiona, son-in-law Noel, brother Donie, sisters Tessie (Maher) and Bridget (Fogarty), nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended relatives, fantastic neighbours and many friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Fogarty will repose at his residence (E41 TD36) on Tuesday afternoon, December 14th next, from 3:00pm to 7:00pm, before being received into Holycross Abbey, Holycross, Thurles at 8:00pm. Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday morning, December 15th at 11.30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in the adjoining graveyard.

Killer Covid-19 Cases Are Confirmed At 6,215 Today, On Irish Mainland.

The Department of Health has confirmed 4,667 new cases of Covid-19, over the past 24 hours, here in the Republic of Ireland.

There are 504 people in hospital, up 23 patients since yesterday. Of these 109 are in ICU, down 2 on figures reported yesterday.
The number of booster vaccinations accepted here in the Republic to-date now stands at 1,114,334; however sadly, the total number of deaths in the Republic, up to Wednesday December 8th last, now stands at 5,788.

Four additional cases of the Omicron variant have also been detected in the Republic, bringing to 10 the total number of cases that have been identified, following whole-genome sequencing.

Immunologist Professor Mr Kingston Mills has stated that the current booster campaign has to be speedily expedited, to everybody who is eligible. He further stated that we have a very small numbers of Omicron variant cases here so far and if we could manage to contain this new variant, we could avert its worst effects. However, he warned that if Omicron continues its pace in the UK; it is going to spread here into Ireland, since we are so linked with easy travel to both Northern Ireland and the UK.
Meanwhile, from tomorrow, the vaccination campaign is being expanded in England with people in their 30s now able to book a booster dose.

Following the decision by the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) to recommend vaccination for children aged 5 to 11, for vaccination against Covid-19 here in Éire, it is expected to be January before any vaccination of this grouping will fully materialise.

In Australia, it has been agreed to shorten the waiting time for people to receive Covid-19 booster vaccines, following a rise in cases of the Omicron variant. Australia had previously said it would offer a Covid-19 booster to everyone over 18 and who had their second dose of the vaccine six months prior. Australian Health Minister Mr Greg Hunt has stated that the time interval will now be shortened to five months after receipt of the second dose.

Another 1,548 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in Northern Ireland today, up from 1,446 on yesterday.
To date the total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 in Northern Ireland since the start of the pandemic rises is 2,924, including, sadly, 3 further reported deaths today.

It remains essential that we here in Co. Tipperary and nationally, continue to listen to science and keep ourselves and our families safe by regularly washing our hands; wearing a mask when appropriate, and cutting down on unnecessary social contacts.

Today, Killer Covid-19 Cases Reach 5,450 On Irish Mainland.

The Department of Health has confirmed 4,004 new cases of Covid-19 in the Irish Republic within the last 24 hours.

There remain 481 people in hospital, down 30 on yesterday’s reported figures, of whom 111 people are in ICU, up 1 case over the same period.

The Department of Health and the Health Service Executive are currently looking at booster scheduling options, however the Chief Executive of the HSE, Mr Paul Reid has stated that it expects to have administered around 1.5 million Covid-19 vaccine booster doses within the next 14 days.

Any prospect of schools shutting early for the Christmas holidays is currently being discounted.

In Northern Ireland, there have been 1,446 positive cases of the virus identified in the past 24 hours, with sadly, 3 further deaths related to Covid-19, their Department of Health has confirmed.
