Nenagh Gardaí are currently investigating a serious fire in a derelict premises on Kenyon Street in the North Tipperary town, which cost one man his life.
The blaze was discovered in the early hours of this morning, and the deceased, named locally as Mr Kryztof Sec, a homeless foreign national, has since been removed to Limerick Hospital, where a post-mortem is expected to take place today.
The fire broke out in a disused former public house and was reported by a passer-by at around 1.05am. Two units of Nenagh Fire Service, in conjunction with one Fire Service unit from Cloughjordan, Co. Tipperary, attended at the scene.
While fighting the blaze, fire fighters discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his late 40’s, within the precincts of the burning premises, while a second male; also within the premises at the time of the blaze, managed to escape with minor injuries, latter which were attended too at Limerick University hospital.
Firefighters attended the scene until 11.55am today and the building has since been sealed off by Gardaí for a technical examination, during which it is hoped the original cause of the fire can be established.

 Cannabis
A number of searches, conducted under ‘Operation Thor’ yesterday and last night, saw four searches in the Newport area and two searches in the Roscrea area of Co. Tipperary.
Following the searches a male was arrested and today remains in custody following the location and seizure of an anticipated fifty thousand Euro worth cannabis under cultivation.
The discovery was made in the precincts of Roscrea town, during an intelligence fed, planned search, which saw Tipperary Divisional Drugs Squad uncovered the drug.
The man arrested is understood to be detained at Nenagh Garda station, where he remains currently for questioning by detectives.

Gardaí are now appealing for witnesses to certain criminal activity which is understood to have taken place over a 3 day period, on November 16th, 17th and 18th last.
This criminal goings-on occurred close to an area known as Killistafford Cross, Dualla Village near Cashel, Co. Tipperary and involved the theft of metres of telephone cable cut down and removed for its copper value, to be sold on to scrap metal merchants.
It is understood that the thieves involved were dressed to appear as telephone contractors.

One male aged in his 30’s and one female aged in her 20’s were both arrested yesterday by Gardaí, who seized a large quantity of cocaine during a series of searches here in Co. Tipperary and Co. Clare.
The market value of the drugs haul seized in Co. Tipperary; which has yet to be analysed, is estimated to be worth somewhere in the region of €70,000.
It is understood that Gardaí, led by the Clare Divisional Drug’s unit and supported by Units from the Limerick Division, conducted investigations yesterday which involved the stopping and searching of a car close to Birdhill, Co Tipperary, where the cocaine was recovered. The arrested couple remain currently detained at Shannon Garda Station, held there under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Drug Trafficking Act, 1996.
We understand that further searches were carried out at a residence in Newmarket-on-Fergus Co. Clare, latter some 48km or 30mls from Birdhill, via the N18, where drug paraphernalia including packaging and a weighing scales were also discovered.
This significant seizure was part of ongoing shared intelligence gathering by Gardaí, targeting the sale and supply of illegal drugs here in the Mid-West Region.
Three men have received long jail sentences by Mr Justice John Hannan, for their part in two aggravated burglaries in which three pensioners were tied up, stabbed and beaten in Co. Limerick. During a further separate robbery, another family were tied up in their home. The two incidents occurred in April and May of 2012 in Pallasgreen, Co Limerick.
Two of the accused; Mr Patrick Roche aged 53 with an address at Kilcronan Close, Clondalkin Co. Dublin, and his son Mr Philip Roche aged 24-year, were today both jailed for 17 years and 15 years respectively.
The son-in-law of above named Mr Patrick Roche; 37-year-old Mr Alan Freeman, with an address at No.73, Pearse Park, Tipperary town, Co. Tipperary was jailed for 14 years. The final three years of each of the accused men’s sentences were suspended.
Following Mr John Hannan’s sentencing, victims complimented the Judge’s decision and declared their complete satisfaction with the long jail terms handed down.
