Tipperary Gardaí Arrest Two Drug Drivers

An Garda Síochána, latter operating “Anti-Crime Checkpoints” today in the areas of Cahir and Cashel Co. Tipperary, stopped two motorists.

The first driver presented what appeared to be a fake driving licence. Same was confirmed using the Garda Mobility App. The driver was then arrested on suspicion of drug Driving, after testing positive for Cannabis use. His licence was seized for further forensic examination

The second driver, latter an unaccompanied learner driver, with no L-plates on display, tested positive for cocaine and cannabis use. His vehicle was seized and he himself was also arrested.

Man Arrested In Tipperary Following House Search

Yesterday evening, at approximately 5.30pm, members of the Clonmel District Drugs Unit; Clonmel Detective Branch and the Southern Regional Dog Unit, searched an address at Cherrymount, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

Suspected amphetamines with an estimated street value of €1,500 were seized, together with digital scales, mixing agent, deal bags and a small amount of cannabis.

A man in his 30’s has now been arrested and remains currently detained at Clonmel Garda Station.

Further investigations are ongoing.

Drug Dealer In Tipperary Arrested

Gardaí continue their war on drugs and those dealing in illegal substances, here in Co. Tipperary.

Cahir District Drugs Unit arrested a drug dealer in Cahir town on Friday evening. Latter was found to be in possession of Cannabis to the value of approx €1,500 and carrying over €2,500 in cash.

We understand the male attempted to evade Gardaí, before being finally arrested. The cash, a mobile phone and cannabis herb were recovered and further investigations are now ongoing.

Gardaí Seek Help Following Death Of Thurles Man

As we reported yesterday; a Thurles man has sadly died following a disturbance at the Chapelfield housing estate in Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny.

A short time earlier the victim had been involved in an incident at the An Grianan estate in Killenaule, Co Tipperary, where he had suffered a significant injury to his arm.

Following treatment, he later was found by Gardai on the M8 near Junction No.6 at the Horse and Jockey, in the early hours of Monday morning.

Gardaí removed the man from the motorway and brought him to a home in the Chapelfield Estate in Urlingford, Co Kilkenny, at around 1:00am.

Officers rushed back to the area at around 1.50am on Monday morning, having receiving a report of yet another incident in the estate. The victim was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny, where sadly he later passed away.

As the man was in custody prior to passing away, Gardai are continuing to investigate both incidents and the Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission (GSOC) have now launched a separate investigation into his unfortunate death.

Officers at Thurles Garda Station have launched a major witness appeal following both incidents, and are looking for help from any person who may have been in the An Grianan area of Killenaule, Co Tipperary on the afternoon of Sunday July 26th, 2020. Gardaí are also particularly anxious to speak to any person who may have attended at the house with the man and his friends over the course of the afternoon.
They are also anxious to speak to any person who may have seen a lone male on the M8 Motorway in the vicinity of the Horse and Jockey on the Northbound carriageway, between 12.00am and 12.45am on the morning of Monday July 27th, 2020, or who were in the vicinity of Chapelfield Estate in Urlingford on or between 1.00am and 3.30am, on the same morning (July 27th 2020).

Gardaí Investigate Death Of Man Following Altercations In Killenaule & Urlingford

Gardaí are investigating the loss of life of a man believed to be in his 20’s, following a number of altercations, first in Co. Tipperary and later in Co. Kilkenny on Sunday last, (July 26th).

It’s understood the young man, a Thurles native, was injured in an incident in Killenaule, Co. Tipperary, on Sunday, before being brought to hospital by ambulance.

He was later found on the motorway in Urlingford Co. Kilkenny. Gardaí state that they brought the man to a house in the Chapelfield estate area in Urlingford, for his personal safety.

Following a further disturbance at this house in Urlingford, he was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, Co. Kilkenny, where sadly he died from injuries.

We understand that a forensic examination has since been carried out at a house in the Chapelfield estate, while door to door enquiries have also taken place in this area.

Gardaí state that the matter remains under investigation.
