Covid-19 Update: Sat. 18th July 2020 – 2 Deaths – 21 New Cases

The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the ninth day in a row.

This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been sadly 2 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic at 1,753, with one death de-notified.

However, there were 21 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, now at 25,750, with one case de-notified.

Meanwhile, a test is understood to have been developed by the UK Rapid Test Consortium (UK-RTC), latter a partnership between Oxford University and leading UK diagnostics firms. Latter should see plans to distribute millions of free coronavirus antibody tests, after the version has successfully passed its first major trials.
The test is understood to be a fingerprick test, which can tell, within 20 minutes, if a person has ever been exposed to the coronavirus.

The test in trials was found to be 98.6% accurate in secret human trials held back last June.

Covid-19 Update: Fri. 17th July 2020 – 3 Deaths – 34 New Cases

The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the eight day in a row.

This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been sadly 3 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic at 1,752.

However, there were 34 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, now at 25,730. This latter figure includes the denotification of 2 previously confirmed cases.

Of these new 34 new cases notified, we are aware that Dublin, has 16 new cases recorded over the past 24 hours.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Dr. Ronan Glynn has warned that all of the measures that we have been talking about for so many months are now even more important; e.g. physical distancing, hand hygiene and respiratory etiquette, wearing a face covering where appropriate, avoiding large crowds.

Covid-19 Update: Thur. 16th July 2020 – 1 Death – 21 New Cases

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar has intimated that the reopening of pubs could be delayed beyond August 10th, confirming that pubs and nightclubs will most definitely not open any sooner than that date. This decision essentially prioritises schools, healthcare facilities and indeed the countries economy, and was not an easy decision made by government.

The Government has also wisely announced that face coverings must now be worn in all shops, retail settings and shopping centres. The immediate advice is for people to start obeying this guidance immediately, as legal regulations will take some time to draft and implement.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the seventh day in a row.

This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been sadly 1 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic at 1,749.

However, there were 21 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 25,698. This latter figure includes the denotification of 6 previously confirmed cases.

Covid-19 Update: Wed. 15th July 2020 – 2 Deaths – 14 New Cases

The Cabinet has decided that the reopening of pubs and nightclubs will now rightly be deferred to August 10th 2020; with crowd size limits likely to stay as they are, under a proposal contained in a memo to Government.

The government will also discuss a proposal to further extend the regulation requiring face coverings on public transport, which was welcomed and came into effect on Monday last.

Meanwhile, the total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; remains currently at 543, with no new cases for the sixth day in a row.

This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been sadly 2 new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic at 1,748.

However, there were 14 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 25,683.

Of these new 14 new cases notified by county and recorded over the past 24 hours, we are aware that in total 15 other cases appear to have been reclassifications. In all at least 29 cases, over the past 24 hours, are confirmed as being in the following counties:- Co. Dublin, in total there are 12,326 (14 new cases), Co. Kildare 1,517 (3 new cases), Co. Meath 817 (5 new cases), Co. Cork 1550 (4 new case), Co. Wicklow 709 (1 new case), Co. Sligo 148 (stable today), Co. Mayo 573 (stable today), Co. Limerick 589 (stable today) Co. Waterford 166 (stable today) and Co. Kerry 316 (2 new cases).

Covid-19 Update: Tue. 14th July 2020 – 32 New Cases

The total number of Covid-19 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary; stands currently at 543, with no new cases for the fifth day running.

This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that there have been zero new death caused by this pandemic, leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic to 1,746.

However, there were 32 new additional cases reported to the Department of Health, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 25,670.

Of the 32 new cases confirmed over the past 24 hours, we are aware that 11 new cases are located in following counties:- Co. Dublin in total there are 12,312 (4 new cases), Co. Kildare 1,514 (1 new case), Co. Meath 812 (stable today), Co. Cork 1546 (2 new case), Co. Wicklow 708 (1 new case), Co. Sligo 148 (stable today), Co. Mayo 573 (stable today), Co. Limerick 589 (stable today) and Co. Kerry 314 (3 new cases).

As of yesterday, 523,277 tests have been carried out in total.
Out of 49,264 tests, latter carried out over the past week, 157 tests were confirmed positive, giving a positivity rate of 0.3%; with the number of people in hospital and ICU remaining stable.
