No New confirmed Covid-19 Cases In Co. Tipperary Today
This evening, figures from the Department of Health confirm that there has been sadly 3 new deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,788.
However, there are 254 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 31,799.
Of the cases confirmed today; 136 are in Dublin; 20 in Donegal; 13 in Louth; 12 in Wicklow; 9 in Waterford; 7 each in Carlow and Cork; 6 in Galway; with 5 each in Kerry and Wexford. Of the remaining 28 cases same are spread over counties Clare; Kildare; Kilkenny; Laois; Leitrim; Limerick; Longford; Mayo; Monaghan; Offaly; Roscommon and Westmeath.

Disease specialist Professor Sam McConkey warned there could be 5,000 daily cases of the Covid-19 virus in Dublin by the end of October 2020, if action is not taken and if individuals fail to follow anti-Covid advice.
Professor Philip Nolan has warned that Ireland could face up to 3,500 daily COVID-19 cases, if the virus is allowed to continue in its present trend. Prof Nolan explained infections are rising at a rate of between 4% and 6% per day. Same rise will double every 12 to 18 days unless case numbers are brought under control. In the unlikely scenario where we do nothing this would lead to 1400 – 3500 new cases per day by the end of October.
It is now important that Tipperary politicians, like Allan Kelly, Mattie McGrath, together with Premier County TD’s who claim to support this present government; namely Jackie Cahill and Michael Lowry, behave responsibly and leave populist vote catching efforts to Sinn Féin, the Yellow Vest movement, Direct Democracy Ireland and all the other misguided Ben Gilroy’s, Gemma O’Doherty’s and John Waters’ of this our pandemic troubled State.
Interesting to hear Tipperary TD Mr Jackie Cahill, latter who attended the Cheltenham Race Festival in the UK, during the Covid-19 Irish lock-down, and who was calling for a meat plant to be allowed to open in Banagher, Co. Offaly, when Co. Offaly was in lock-down, is now calling for improved precautions to protect himself and other TDs and officials in Dáil Éireann.

However, there are 357 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 31,549, with one case denotified.
Of today’s confirmed cases, 5 are located in Co. Tipperary(743 cases in total to date); 218 in Dublin (So much for the right to protest and the right of free speech with cases in total now at 14,665), 18 in Louth; 12 in Waterford; 11 in Kildare; 9 in Cork; 8 each in Kerry, Limerick and Meath; 7 in Westmeath; 6 in Wicklow; 5 in Offaly; 5 each in Roscommon and Mayo. The remaining 32 cases are located in counties Carlow; Cavan; Clare; Donegal; Galway; Kilkenny; Laois; Leitrim; Monaghan; Sligo and Wexford.

This evening, figures from the Department of Health confirm that there has been Zero new deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,784.
However, there are 208 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 31,192, withone case denotified.
There are sadly two deaths and 109 new cases confirmed in Northern Ireland.
Of the cases confirmed today; over half or 108 cases are located in Dublin; 18 are in Louth; 12 in Donegal; 10 in Meath; 9 in Kildare; 8 in Waterford; 7 in Cork and 6 each in Limerick and Wexford. The remaining 24 cases are spread across counties Tipperary (741 cases todate); Carlow; Cavan; Clare; Galway; Kilkenny; Laois; Longford; Mayo; Roscommon; Westmeath and Wicklow.

An Tanaiste Mr Leo Varadkar has stated that there is a “growing confidence” that a Covid-19 vaccine will be available in the first half of next year. However, he warned that until that happens it will be a “game of cat and mouse” with the virus that will mean the implementation of local restrictions for parts of the country.
The period of self-isolation for Covid-19 positive cases here in the Republic has been reduced from 14 days to 10 days. However, for close contacts, people must still restrict their movements for 14 days. These changes have come into being following a review of international evidence, following a study by the Health Information & Quality Authority.
Infectious diseases consultant Dr Clíona Ní Cheallaigh has described the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases here in Ireland as worrying with the scene changing in hospitals where patients are presenting themselves a unwell with the virus. Dr Ní Cheallaigh also warned that in pubs people are in a closed space and can’t wear a mask when they are having a drink so pub will be high risk by their very nature. There is no zero-risk environment unless you stay at home she further stated.
Ireland, together with the Germany, Czech Republic, Denmark, Italy and Latvia have begun testing new links between their Virus tracing application servers, according to the European Commission. The new system will ensure that applications will work seamlessly across European borders.
World Health Organisation (WHO) European director Hans Kluge, has warned that Europe will see a rise in the daily number of Covid-19 deaths during the months of October and November. His remarks come as the World Health Organisation has reported nearly 308,000 new cases over the past 24 hours.

An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin, has stated that he was greatly concerned about what he called the “aggressive marching” of 2000 anti-Covid restriction protesters in Dublin yesterday; protesting against current public health measures.
Mr Martin rightly stated that the priority was to keep schools and colleges open and everything would be done to fully achieve that, including prioritising schools above sports and opening pubs.
Deputy Commissioner, Policing and Security, Mr John Twomey, has urged people not to gather in large groups, however there exist a certain category of misguided individual, intent on not just destroying our shrinking health service, but also our overall economy. Time for public and formal disapproval to be expressed by all elected representatives, including those representing Co. Tipperary.
In Northern Ireland, 87 new cases of coronavirus have been reported with no deaths.
The Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkin’s University (JHU) have confirmed today that worldwide there have been almost 29 million Covid-19 virus cases identified and confirmed. Sadly the virus has now killed almost 921 thousand (920,942) of these confirmed cases.
Spain remains the country with the highest 14-day incidence per 100,000 at 270.7, followed by France at 151.3. The UK figure is 48.6.

The national incidence rates over the past 14 days, show sadly Co. Tipperary in 8th place (35.7 per 100,000 people). (Overall Tipperary total showing as 739). Carrigatogher, Co. Tipperary and Roscrea, Co. Tipperary are amongst the top 45 electoral districts, of 3,409 electoral divisions in total nationally, both with the highest incidence of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in the state.
Counties with the top highest incidence outbreak as expected are Dublin [View, live, O’Connell Street, Dublin, online here.] (73.2); Limerick (66.2); Kildare (61.6), per 100,000 people. Over an 8 day period, Dublin accrued 563 new confirmed cases of the killer virus, bringing the county’s total number of cases to 14,206.
The number of Covid-19 cases in hospitals nationally according to HSE figures as of 8:00pm last night, indicate 53 patients receiving treatment, up two on the previous day and of that number, seven people remain in intensive care units.
If Ireland starts to see 300 to 500 cases confirmed on a daily rate, same is most likely to seriously impact on an already swamped hospital system, this winter.
Meanwhile, Gardaí now have the power to close non compliant licenced hostelries and restaurants following Irish President Mr Michael D. Higgins having signed into law the “Criminal Justice Enforcement Powers Covid-19 Bill”.
