The Food Safety Authority of Ireland have announced the recall of certain batches of Baily & Kish ‘Salmon Simply Smoked’, due to the detection of Listeria monocytogenes
Consumers are advised to check their freezers and are further advised not to eat any of the implicated batches.
Affected Product: The packs containing the affected product are the 100g and 200g pack sizes, with ‘Use by dates’ 23rd October 2020 and 24th October 2020. Batch Codes are L2680 and L2540.
Symptoms of Listeria monocytogenes infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness. In rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications. Some people are more vulnerable to Listeria monocytogenes infections, including pregnant women, babies, and people with weakened immune systems, including the elderly. The incubation period (time between initial infection and first symptoms appearing) is on average 3 weeks, but can range between 3 and 70 days.
Retailers of the product are requested to display a point-of-sale recall notice in stores, where the affected batches were sold.
Wholesalers/distributors are requested to contact their affected customers and recall the affected batch and also provide a point-of-sale recall notice to their retailer customers.
20 new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary
The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 6 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,902.
There are 866 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 60,297.
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 20 are in Co. Tipperary (1,142 cases to date, per RTE summary); 242 in Dublin; 166 in Cork; 56 in Donegal; 54 in Galway; 44 in Meath; with the remaining 284 cases located across another 19 other counties.
Currently, there are 330 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our Irish State hospitals, with 43 of these patients in intensive care units, (ICU’s).
There are 822 new cases in Northern Ireland, with sadly 8 further deaths from Covid-19 virus in the past 24 hours. Their death toll now stands at 688. There are also 361 confirmed Covid-19 patients in Northern Ireland hospital’s, with 44 in ICU’s, 39 of whom are on ventilators.
Total global cases this evening, now stand at well over 44.5 million [Global Cases – 44,708,172] with global deaths well over 1 million [Global Deaths – 1,177,077].

6 new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary
The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 6 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,896.
There are 675 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 59,434.
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 6 are in Co. Tipperary (1,122 cases to date, per RTE summary); 199 in Dublin; 104 in Cork; 67 in Meath; 50 in Limerick; 41 in Kildare; with the remaining 208 cases located across 19 other counties.
The current 14-day incidence rate for Tipperary continues to remain the lowest rate in Irish State, at 139.1 per 100,000 of population.
Currently, there were 327 confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded nationally in our State’s hospitals at lunch time, with 41 of these patients in intensive care units.
There were 840 new cases in Northern Ireland bringing their total number of confirmed cases to 36,394, with sadly 9 further deaths from Covid-19 virus in the past 24 hours. Their death toll now stands at 680.
Total global cases this evening, now stand at well over 44 million [Global Cases – 44,229,969] with global deaths well over 1 million [Global Deaths – 1,170,283].
A pilot project using sniffer dogs to provide instant coronavirus testing at Helsinki airport has shown promising early results. Three dogs, Kossi, ET and Miina, have been used to sniff swabs taken from some 2,200 passengers in the last month, and same canines have identified the virus in 0.6% of those travelling.

17 new killer Covid-19 virus cases confirmed in Co. Tipperary
The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 5 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,890.
There are 720 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 58,767. (79 deaths in the last month, 32 of which were in nursing homes.)
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 17 are in Co. Tipperary (1,116 cases to date, per RTE summary); 228 in Dublin; 130 in Cork; 47 in Galway; 31 in Meath; 27 in Limerick; with the remaining 240 cases located across 19 other counties.
However, the 14-day incidence rate continues to show the lowest rate as being here in Tipperary, at 133.5 per 100,000 of population.
The Health Service Executive has promised that in approximately eight week it will have some 800 contact tracers recruited, to deal with the Covid-19 virus pandemic. Currently, there are 550 staff working in the HSE’s national contact tracing centres. The HSE had also availed of 60 army cadets for one week to support contact tracing.

The Department of Health have confirmed this evening that there have been sadly 3 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll here in the Republic of Ireland remaining at 1,885.
There are 939 new additional cases reported today, leaving the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception in the Irish Republic, at 58,067.
Of this evening’s confirmed cases; 26 are in Co. Tipperary (1,099 cases to date, per RTE summary); 262 in Dublin; 96 in Cork; 61 in Meath; 53 in Galway; 51 in Donegal; with the remaining 387 cases located across all other remaining counties.
However, the county with the lowest 14-day incidence rate remains Co. Tipperary at 139.1 per 100,000 of population.
