Covid-19 Update: Mon. 3rd May 2021 – No Deaths – 453 New Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed that there has been zero further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 4,906.

There have been 453 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 250,290.

Of the cases confirmed today, 78% were under the age of 45 years.

There have been 5,873 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary, since the pandemic began, same figure relevant up to and including May 1st, 2021.

There are 129 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today, and of that number, 40 are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.

Some 1,146,562 first doses of Covid-19 vaccines have now been administered here in Ireland up to April 30th, with 445,326 persons having received their second dose.

Meanwhile, the Minister for Health Mr Stephen Donnelly has stated that he is expecting to receive options early this week on updating the vaccination roll-out plan, with the Cabinet set to meet in Dublin Castle tomorrow afternoon.

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 5:00pm this evening, now stands at well over 152.97 million confirmed, with global deaths at well over 3.20 million.

Covid-19 Update: Sun. 2nd May 2021 – 1 Death – 402 New Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed that there has been 1 further death caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 4,906.

In the 6 counties of Northern Ireland, their Department of Health have confirmed 69 new Covid-19 cases, and 1 further death also.

There have been 402 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 249,838.

Of the cases confirmed today, 79% were under the age of 45 years.

There have been 5,860 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary, since the pandemic began, same figure relevant up to and including April 30th, 2021.

There are 127 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today, and of that number, 41 are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.

Some 1,130,958 first doses of Covid-19 vaccines have now been administered here in Ireland up to April 30th, with 441,821 persons having received their second dose.

Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil TD and Minister for Education Ms Norma Foley is appealing to Leaving Cert students not to party so that their exams can go ahead as planned this year.

Ms Foley issued the warning as the final countdown to the State exams gets under way and as Leaving Cert students were given their last chance to decide whether they will sit the exam or opt to accept predictive grades based on work submitted during the past academic year.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed that there has been 3 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 4,906.

In the 6 counties of Northern Ireland, their Department of Health have confirmed 90 new Covid-19 cases, and no deaths.

There have been 569 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 249,437.

Of the cases confirmed today, 78% were under the age of 45 years.

There have been 5,830 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary, since the pandemic began, same figure relevant up to and including April 29th, 2021.

There are 123 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today, and of that number, 41 are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.

Covid-19 Update: Fri. 30th April 2021 – 4 Deaths – 545 New Cases.

The Department of Health this evening has confirmed that there has been 4 further deaths caused by the Covid-19 pandemic; leaving the overall death toll, here in the Republic of Ireland, remaining at 4,903.

In the 6 counties of Northern Ireland, the toll of Covid-19 linked deaths has now passed 2,950.

There have been 545 new additional virus cases reported here within the Irish Republic. This leaves the current total number of confirmed cases, since conception, at 248,870.

Of the cases confirmed today, 77% were under the age of 45 years.

An Taoiseach, Mr Micheál Martin, has stated that the Government is more than hopeful that any easing of restrictions in May and June of 2021 can happen without interruption, but it will not be afraid to intervene if further worrying trends should emerge.

There have been 5,824 virus cases confirmed here in Co. Tipperary, since the pandemic began, same figure relevant up to and including April 28th, 2021.

Of the cases confirmed today; 264 are in Dublin, 58 in Kildare, 50 in Cork, 29 in Donegal, 28 in Galway, with the remaining 116 cases located across 21 other counties.

There are 139 people with Covid-19 remaining in hospital today, and of that number, 44 are in ICU’s, according to Ireland’s COVID-19 Data Hub.

Some 1,067,378 first doses of Covid-19 vaccines have now been administered here in Ireland up to April 28th, with 419,665 persons having received their second dose.

The total worldwide number of virus cases identified up to 5:00pm this evening, now stands at well over 150.65 million confirmed, with global deaths at well over 3.16 million.

Thurles Hairdressing Services Coming Back.

Today, April 30th is “Hairdresser Appreciation Day” and in 2021, we have never come to appreciate our hairdressers more. In the absence of their services many of us are going around looking like our cavemen and women ancestors. Many others are sporting the dreaded do-it-yourself ‘Covid Cut’.

Last night, positively, we learned that from May 10th, by appointment only, hairdressers, barbers and beauty salons will reopen. Walk-in services will not be available.

Hereunder a List of Lockdown Changes Coming Our Way.


From May 4th:

Outdoor workers can return to work and all construction can restart.


From May 10th:

Travel: You can travel between counties.
Garden visits: Up to 3 households can visit or 6 people from different households.
Training and Outdoor Events: Maximum 15 people.
Hairdressers, Barbers and Beauty Salons: Can reopen by appointment only. No walk-in services.
Retail: Click and collect by appointment only can restart along with outdoor retail.
Libraries: Can reopen.
Funerals: Maximum 50 mourners at Religious Services.
Weddings: Maximum 50 guests at service and maximum 6 guests at indoor reception or 15 at outdoor reception.
Public Transport: 50 per cent of services will run.

From May 17th:

All remaining retail can reopen.


From June 2nd (Depending on the public health situation at the time).

Hotels, B&Bs and Self-Catering Services can reopen but services will be limited to overnight guests and residents.


From June 7th (Depending on the public health situation at the time).

Visitors: You can have visitors from one other household inside your home.

Restaurants and Bars: Outdoor services can resume with groups of up to no more than six people.

Weddings: Maximum number of reception guests increases to 25.

Outdoor Sports Matches: Can resume with no spectators.

Gyms, Swimming Pools and Leisure Centres: Can reopen but only for individual training.
