The Department of Health has confirmed 1,173 new cases of Covid-19 in the Republic of Ireland. The number of people in intensive care units has risen to 23, with 79 people being treated for the virus in our overcrowded hospitals.
Persons who are awaiting full vaccination are being strongly urged to take all necessary precautions, particularly during this warm weekend.
Persons who are awaiting full vaccination are being strongly urged to take all necessary precaution, particularly during this fine weekend.
A total of 4,995,719 Covid-19 vaccines have now been administered in the Republic of Ireland. Of the latter; 2,803,491 are first doses and 2,192,228 are people who had received two doses.
National Public Health Emergency Team member Professor Mr Philip Nolan is warning that we are seeing very rapid increases in incidence rates in those aged 16-18, 19-24 and 25-34 age groups.
Time now for parents to speak more sternly to their teenage offspring’s and their young adults, highlighting Delta virus dangers.
In Northern Ireland another 1,380 people have tested positive for coronavirus. That figure compares with 1,083 people, just yesterday.
Figures confirmed on the whole island of Ireland, today, totals 2553, an increase of 476 compared to yesterday.
Time also for unqualified, irresponsible and injudicious opposition government TD’s to ‘dry up’, stop wasting valuable government debate time and follow the wisdom being handed out by the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet) and this present government; latter who have served the Irish people extraordinarily well over the period of this pandemic, to date.
By today, more than 1.3 million emails and letters containing the EU Digital Covid Certificate have now been issued to people who have been fully vaccinated; as the Dáil passed Government legislation on the reopening of indoor hospitality. This now passed legislation is accepted by the majority of Irish citizens as being both a sensible and a balanced approach by our government.
An Tánaiste Mr Leo Varadkar has stated that the Government is targeting Monday July 26th as the date for the reopening of indoor hospitality, when those fully vaccinated persons will be able to go indoors to pubs and restaurants. Mr Varadkar also warned that presently there were “reasons for real concerns and caution” as Delta variant contamination begins to surge.
The Irish Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan has advised parents that it would be safer not to bring children into indoor dining settings, warning that this scenario he regards as “responsible public health advice”, in the case of those not yet vaccinated.
Speaking at a National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) briefing, Dr. Holohan stated that for those who wish to venture out with their children, “dining outdoors is still possible”.
Primarily, with 5% of Covid cases now involving fully vaccinated people, it is and will remain all about trusting people, while carefully checking the odds, before deciding to do what is right.
Today the Department of Health has reported 994 new cases of Covid-19 here in our republic. There are 80 patients hospitalised with the disease; of which 22 patients are in ICU, (two more than yesterday). Our death toll remains at 5,018.
Some 70% of the adult population have had at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccine while just 60% of adult persons are now fully vaccinated.
Over 20,000 Covid tests are being conducted each day, with more travel cases identified, with persons coming from holiday destinations including Spain, Portugal and the UK.
Alas, another 1,083 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Northern Ireland as of this Thursday afternoon, compared to 636 cases in the previous 24-hour period.
This brings the total number of cases on our emerald isle to 2,077 confirmed cases.
Please do continue to wear your face coverings and to socially distance. The latter has proven to have significantly limited the spread of COVID-19 in the past. Stay Safe.
Here in the republic of Ireland, a further 783 cases of the Covid-19 virus have been reported by the Department of Health.
There are 73 people being treated in our hospitals, with one further coronavirus-linked death reported. Of those patients hospitalised, there are presently 20 committed to intensive care units, latter an increase of three compared with yesterday’s figures. It was also confirmed today that sadly at least 12 deaths, linked to the virus, were confirmed in June.
A further 636 cases of Covid-19 have also been reported in Northern Ireland today, bringing the total no of cases on our tiny island to 1,419 within the past 24 hours.
With travel restrictions opened up, the number of cases must now continue to be viewed in an all-Ireland context.
Ireland currently has the 4th lowest number of people in hospital or in intensive care units, being treated for Covid-19, for every million of the population, mainly thanks to our present government wisely following the guidelines as set out by the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet).
It remains ever dispiriting therefore that our four totally unqualified Tipperary politicians (from a science view point), namely Mattie McGrath, Michael Lowry, Alan Kelly, and the governments own Fianna Fail TD, Jackie Cahill, have chosen to level criticism on our government, while refuting the advice being given by the National Public Health Emergency Team (Nphet), in what is being observed by Tipperary dwellers as an attempt at further vote catching by ‘overpaid idlers’.
In the modelling presented by Nphet at the end of June last, the possible scenario presented and predicted, by the latter, was an additional 681,900 new cases present by the end of September, with the possibility of 12,985 hospital admissions, 1,685 intensive care admissions and possibly 2,170 deaths.
The Chairperson of the Nphet’s modelling group; Professor Philip Nolan continues to state that the new modelling of future growth of the disease remains a cause for considerable concern.
Professor Nolan however, remains optimistic that if individuals are presented with the above forcast, they could and would modify their behaviour, thus changing the inevitable trajectory of the disease as had been accomplished in the past months.
The Department of Health has been notified of 600 new cases of Covid-19 today, with 64 people being treated for the virus in hospital. The number of people in intensive care units remains at 16, unchanged from yesterday.
In Northern Ireland, a further 528 new cases were confirmed today, with thankfully no further deaths reported.
The Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has confirmed that 69.8% of adults have had their first vaccination and 56.6% have been fully vaccinated.
Of some 200 people who were in ICU being treated for the virus over the past 6o days, only one had been fully vaccinated and 18 were partially vaccinated, thus proving the effectiveness of the various vaccines on offer.
With regards to indoor hospitality and travel; fully vaccinated people will begin receiving their ‘EU Digital Covid Certificates’ from today.
One million certs issued via email will be sent to people who were vaccinated via the Health Service Executive portal, while another million will be posted to those who were vaccinated by their GP; expected to arrive by the end of this week. An Taoiseach Mr Micheál Martin said that the purpose of these certs is to protect people and to reopen safely.
Meanwhile, persons found to be using fake documents in order to avail of indoor hospitality can face fines of up to €2000 under new legislation, while plans are also being considered to include powers, enabling Gardaí to seek a court order to close down any such premises found flouting the law.
Irish government Ministers are expected to agree, as early as tomorrow afternoon, to sign off on plans to reopen bars and restaurants in the Irish Republic.
The Government is hoping that this legislation will be in place, thus allowing vaccinated people only to eat and drink inside licenced hostelries and restaurants, with same being passed by the Dáil and Seanad Éireann before the end of this week.
It is then expected the Bill will be signed by President Mr Michael D. Higgins during the week beginning Monday, July 19th and before Friday, July 23rd.
We understand that the Government is also preparing for a ‘vaccine pass’ which can be scanned, assisting business owners; same who are worried about policing Covid-19 passes.
Meanwhile, a further 576 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed within the Republic. Here also, there are 58 people currently hospitalised with the disease, up six from yesterday, and of these 16 people remain in intensive care units. Here in the Republic, some 55% of adults have been fully vaccinated, while 70% of persons have received a first dose as of yesterday.
In Northern Ireland, a further 605 positive cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed, up to lunch time today, Sunday. In Northern Ireland, also, there has been, sadly, one further coronavirus-linked death over the past 24 hours, while to date, 2,122,962 vaccines have been administered to their citizens.
