The Kentucky-born singer and mother of the Grammy-winning duo “The Judds”, Naomi Judd, has sadly died near Nashville, Tennessee, aged 76.
Naomi was the mother of daughters Wynonna and Ashley Judd, latter who announced her death yesterday, Saturday April 30th, 2022, in a statement provided to The Associated Press.
In the statement they confirm; “Today we sisters experienced a tragedy. We lost our beautiful mother to the disease of mental illness. We are shattered. We are navigating profound grief and know that as we loved her, she was loved by her public. We are in unknown territory.”
The statement declared that no further details about her death would be released and asked for privacy, as the family continues grieve their sad loss.
“The Judds” were to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday, and had announced an arena tour to begin this coming Autumn.

It comes as no surprise that Irish star Jessie Buckley was one of the winners at the Olivier Awards in London’s Royal Albert Hall on last night, winning “Best Actress in a Musical” for her outstanding performance as ‘Sally Bowles’ in the West End revival of “Cabaret”.

The Killarney native and Ursuline Convent Thurles educated, actress collected her award at the annual theatre celebrations in the Royal Albert Hall, London.
Ms Buckley had also been among the “Best Supporting Actress” nominees at this year’s Oscars, for her performance in the film “The Lost Daughter”, which is currently available for viewing on NETFLIX.
In all “Cabaret” scooped 7 awards out of a total of 11 nominations on the night, including awards for Miss Buckley’s co-stars Mr Eddie Redmayne, who took “Best Actor in a Musical” for his portrayal of ‘Emcee’.
Ms Liza Sadovy was awarded “Best Supporting Actress” and Mr Elliot Levey who was awarded “Best Supporting Actor”.
The Musical “Cabaret” was also named “Best Musical Revival”, “Best Sound”, with Ms Rebecca Frecknall named as ‘Best Director’.

On Tuesday April 5th 2022, Cashel Library will mark its 20th anniversary, with fun-filled birthday celebrations, and everyone is invited!
It is 20 years since the library moved from ‘The Green’ in Cashel to its current location on Friar Street in the town. In that time the library has been central to the community, as a place for groups to gather, connect and to be filled with ideas, information, stories, history, entertainment and culture!
Birthday festivities will commence with a coffee morning at 11:00am, with entertainment provided by children from local schools.
Please do feel free to pop-in for a cuppa and a slice of birthday cake!
Later that evening we are very excited to host a special performance by award winning Irish Tenor, Mr Patrick Hyland.
The evening entertainment will commence at 7:00pm, with a cheese and wine reception first.
