Death Of Stella Cantwell, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Friday 9th December, 2022 of Mrs Stella Cantwell, Kickham Street, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Knockavardagh, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her loving husband Billy, her beloved brothers Jack, Ned, Paddy, Michael and her sisters Margaret, May, Georgina and Ina; Mrs Cantwell passed away peacefully following a short illness.

Her passing is most deeply regretted and sadly missed by her son Liam, daughters Anne, Noelle, Ailish and Michelle, her sons-in-law, Cathal, Dennis and Guillermo and her daughter-in-law Majella, her much loved grandchildren Clodagh, Eoin, Patrick, Ava, Aly, Ella and Aidan, her sister Bessie and her brother Liam, her brother-in-law Bob, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and close circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Mrs Cantwell will repose at her residence, Kickham Street, Mullinahone, Thurles on tomorrow afternoon, Sunday, December 11th, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.
Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 12th, at 12:00 noon in St. Michael’s Church, Mullinahone, Thurles, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in nearby St. Michael’s Cemetery, Killaghy, Mullinahone, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Today Is ‘Human Rights Day’.

“Human Rights Day” is celebrated annually around the world, each year, on December 10th.

The date was initially chosen to honour the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption and proclamation; on December 10th 1948, of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the first global proclamation of human rights and one of the first major achievements of the new United Nations.

“Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All” 
The slogan for this year’s Human Rights Day is “Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All” and the call to action is #StandUp4HumanRights.

Death Of Fr. Vincent Kelly, Formerly Thurles, Co Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, today, Friday 9th December 2022, of Fr. Vincent Kelly SAC (Pallottines), Silversprings, Cork and Pallottine College, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents, Joe and Kitty Kelly, Silversprings, (latter a suburb of Co. Cork); Fr. Kelly passed away peacefully, after a short illness at Haven Bay Care Centre, Kinsale, Co. Cork

Lovingly remembered by his Pallottine Community, the Kelly family Ballinlough, cousins extended relatives and a wide circle of friends, former parishioners and very kind neighbours.

Funeral Arrangements.

The earthly remains of Fr. Kelly will repose at Barry Bros. Funeral Home, Hazelwood, Glanmire, Co. Cork, on Sunday evening, December 11th, from 4:00pm to 5:00pm.

His remains will be received into the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Ballinlough Road, Ballintemple Co. Cork, on Monday afternoon, December 12th, at 12.45pm, to further repose for con-celebrated Requiem Mass at 1:00pm, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Rathcooney Cemetery, Co. Cork.

15 Dogs, 3 Horses, 3 Stolen Caravans & Drugs Seized In South Co. Tipperary.

Two men remain detained in Garda custody in Co. Tipperary, following a joint-agency search operation carried out on Wednesday last, in the Heywood / Ardgeeha areas of Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

Gardaí from the Clonmel District, assisted by members of the Armed Support Unit; Dog Unit; Public Order Unit, and the Stolen Vehicle Investigation Unit, all took part in what was described as an intelligence led search operation.

Personnel from the Irish Defence Forces based in Co. Cork, Revenue Customs Service and the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA) also assisted in the operation.
Five persons in all were initially arrested, with one male and two females having since been released without charge.

A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), following the seizure by the ISPCA of 15 dogs and 3 horses; while 3 caravans latter believed stolen and a quantity of drugs with an estimated street value of €2,000 were also located.

Further investigations remain ongoing.

Death Of Michael McCormack, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday, Wednesday, 7th December, 2022, of Mr Michael McCormack, Curraheen, Horse and Jockey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly Kylenoe, Horse and Jockey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his brother Joe; Mr McCormack passed away suddenly at his place of residence, while under the loving care of his family.

His passing is most sadly missed by his heartbroken family; wife Blanche (née Lamphier), daughter Victoria, parents Peggy and Seamus, brothers Pat, Jim, Philip, John and Thomas, sisters Margaret, Josie, Elsie and Sandra, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, cousins, extended relatives, neighbours and friends (especially Stephen).

The earthly remains of Mr McCormack will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles on Sunday evening, December 11th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.
His body will be received into the Church of St. Peter, Moycarkey, Thurles, on Monday morning, December 12th, at 11:00am, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:30am.
Interment will take place immediately afterwards in nearby St. Peter’s cemetery, Moycarkey, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
