It is with great sadness we learned of the death yesterday, Wednesday 17th January 2018, of Mrs Mary Prendergast (née O’Connor), Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
Relict of the late Stephen; Mrs Prendergast passed away while in the gentle care of Bailey House Nursing Home, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her children, Mick, Gay, Katie and Steve; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother; sisters in-law; extended relatives and friends.
Funeral Arrangements
The earthly remains of Mrs Prendergast will lie in repose at O’Connell’s Funeral Home, Killenaule, Thurles tomorrow evening Friday from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Killenaule at 7.30pm.
Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning at 11.30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in adjoining cemetery.

It is with great sadness we learned of the death today, Wednesday 17th January 2018, of Mrs Mary Tynan (née Ryan, [Richard] ), Ballinahow, Ballycahill, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Predeceased by her husband Pake; Mrs Tynan passed away peacefully, while in her 98th year, surrounded by her family.
Her passing is most deeply regretted by her loving daughter Margaret; son Denis; nephew; nieces; cousins; extended relatives; carers; neighbours and friends.
Funeral Arrangements
The earthly remains of Mrs Tynan will repose in Hugh Ryans’ Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, on tomorrow evening Thursday 18th January from 5.00pm to 7.00pm, to arrive at the Church of St Cataldus, Ballycahill, Thurles at 8.00pm.
Requiem Mass will take place on Friday 19th January at 11.30am, followed by interment immediately afterwards in Ballycahill Cemetery.

It was with great sadness we learned of the death of Mrs Eileen (Lil) Summerell (née Leahy), formerly of Laffansbridge, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Deeply regretted by her brother, Mr Liam Leahy, Ballinure, Thurles, Co. Tipperary; Mrs Summerell passed away while residing in Middlesex, England.
Funeral Arrangements
The earthly remains of Mrs Summerell will be interned in England.
Requiem Mass will be offered for the deceased in St. Mary’s Church, Killenaule, Thurles at a future date to be yet announced.

It is with great sadness we learned of the death, on Friday 12th January 2018, of Mr Thomas (Tom) Hickey, Rathmoley, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
Mr Hickey, son of Mr Dan Hickey and the late Bridget Hickey, passed away suddenly in Queens, New York.
His passing is most deeply regretted by his father Dan; partner Julie; daughter Siobhan; sons Mike and James; sisters Noreen and Bridget; brothers Dan and John, and his three granddaughters.
Funeral Arrangements
Funeral Mass will take place on Saturday morning, 27th January, at 11.30am in St. Mary’s Church, Killenaule, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.
A private family burial will take place on Sunday, 28th January, in Cullen Cemetery, Co. Cork.

The Ballybricken, Co. Limerick lead singer with ‘The Cranberries’, Ms Dolores O’Riordan, has passed away unexpectedly today, aged just 46 years. Ms O’Riordan passed away while in the London Hilton, on Park Lane in London, England, for a recording session.
Ms O’Riordan and her 6ft-4in ex-husband of 20 years, Mr Don Burton, (Latter the former tour manager with band “Duran Duran”), married in Holycross Abbey, Thurles, Co.Tipperary in 1994, holding their wedding reception at the Aherlow House Hotel, Newtown, Aherlow, Co. Tipperary before honeymooning in Dingle, Co. Kerry and the Aran Islands situated at the mouth of Galway Bay, on the west coast of Ireland.

The couple had first met while ‘The Cranberries’ toured with ‘Duran Duran’ in the early 90’s.
Their marriage was later blessed by three children; a son Taylor Baxter, and two daughters Molly Leigh and Dakota Rain, who are understood to be living in Canada with their father since their divorce in 2014. (Mr Burton also has a son from a previous relationship named Donald Jr, known as Donny.)
In 1998, the couple bought a 150-acre stud farm, called Riversfield Stud, located in Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, selling it six years later in 2004.
Following an invitation by Pope Benedict XVI, Ms O’Riordan performed at the Vatican’s annual Christmas concerts in 2001 and 2002, and later performed at the invitation of Pope Francis in 2013.
Around 2004 the couple moved to Howth, in Co. Dublin, and spent the summer season at their log cabin located in Buckhorn, Ontario, Canada, before moving full-time to Buckhorn in 2009.
In August 2013, Ms O’Riordan returned to live in Ireland.
The cause of her death has not yet immediately been made public this evening.
Parish priest at Ballybricken and Bohermore, Fr James Walton, latter formerly a curate here in Thurles, has confirmed that the body of Ms O’Riordan will be interred in her home parish.
