Death Of Jim Powell, Formerly Of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Friday 8th May 2026, of Mr James (Jim) Powell, Myrtleville, Co. Cork and formerly of Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Mary (nee Stuart), brother Pat, sisters Sr. Angela and Susan (Soden); Mr Powell passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at Maryborough Nursing Home.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving sons Denis and Mike, daughters Eileen (Hendrick) and Liz, their partners Jenny, Jim and Lorraine, his loving partner Fifi, brother Michael, grandchildren Dan, Ruth, Ewan and Stuart, Fifi’s family, neighbours, friends and former colleagues from Thurles Sugar Factory/ Irish Sugar.

Funeral Arrangements.

The remains of Mr Powell will repose at Denis Fordes Funeral Home, Old Waterpark, Carrigaline, Co. Cork, on Monday afternoon, May 11th, from 5:00pm until 6:00pm same evening.
Funeral service will take place on Tuesday afternoon, May 12th, at 1:00pm at the Island Crematorium, Rocky Island, Ringaskiddy. Co. Cork.

Death Of Sean Carroll, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Friday 8th May 2026, of Mr Sean Carroll, Garrynamona, Ballycahill, Thurles, Co. Tipperary and formerly of Knockeen, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents John (Jack) and Johanna, brothers Tom and Ned and sister Joan; Mr Carroll passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving sister Breda Behan, loyal friend Mary McGann, nephews, nieces, grand-nephews, grand-nieces, extended relatives, neighbours carers and a wide circle of friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Carroll will repose at Hugh Ryan’s Funeral Home, Slievenamon Road, Thurles, (Eircode E41 CP59) on Sunday afternoon, May 10th, from 4:00pm until 6:00pm, before being received into the Church of St. Cataldus, Ballycahill, Thurles at 7:00pm same evening.
Requiem Mass will be offered for Mr Carroll on Monday morning, May 11th, at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in nearby Ballycahill Cemetery, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Death Of Michael Lyons, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Thursday 7th May 2026, of Mr Michael Lyons, “Quarry Lodge”, Lower Mitchel Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his granddaughter Saidbh, brother Tommy and parents Nell and Tommy; Mr Lyons passed away peacefully while in the exceptional care of the staff at Milford Hospice and the Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving and devoted wife Josephine, son Tom, daughters Susan and Helena, grandchildren Milo, Fionn, Thaddeus and Rowan, daughter-in-law Rachel, sons-in-law Paul and Chris, sister Mary, brother Johnny, sisters-in-law, niece, nephews, extended relatives, good neighbours and many friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, loyalty and good humour.

Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by her husband Bill and great grandson Jack; Mrs Carroll passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Tipperary University Hospital, Clonmel, South Co. Tipperary.

Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving daughter Anna (Whitfield), son-in-law Nigel, grandchildren Emma and Liam, great grandchildren James, Reuban and Pippa, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Pre-deceased by his wife Betty (née O’Gorman), parents Bill and Josephine; Mr Ryan passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. while in the care of staff at the Community Hospital of the Assumption, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving sons Andy and Liam, grandchildren Cathal, Niamh, Alan, Caragh and Kate, daughter-in-law Martina, sisters Sr Breda, Mary (Hayes), Josephine (McGrath), Nora (Ryan) and Kitty (Walshe), brothers Jim, Liam, Micheál, Donnie, Ger and Dick, nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended relatives, neighbours friends and hospital community.
