It was with great sadness that we learned of the death, yesterday Tuesday 30th December 2025, of Mr Michael Gleeson, Frankfort Avenue, Rathgar, Co. Dublin (D.6); formerly of Borrisoleigh, Thurles, Co. Tipperary, and Kerry (Publican and late of Bus Eireann).
Pre-deceased by his brother Sean; Mr Gleeson, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, while in the care of staff at the Beacon Hospital.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving wife Bernie (nee O’Carroll), son Michael, brothers and sisters Margaret, Josephine, Ann, Pat and Breda, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law especially Fergus, Cathy, Nona, Anne, Mary, Breda, Geraldine, Patricia and their husbands, his nieces and nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

The earthly remains of Mr Gleeson will repose at Massey Bros. Funeral Home, Templeogue Village, Dublin 6. (Eircode D6W AC82) on Sunday afternoon, January 4th, form 3:00pm until 5:00pm. His funeral cortège will leave from his place of ordinary residence, Frankfort Ave., on Monday morning before being received into the Church of the Three Patrons, Rathgar, Co. Dublin 6, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 10:00am, followed by a service of cremation in Mt. Jerome Crematorium, 158 Harold’s Cross Rd, Harold’s Cross, Dublin, (Eircode D6W HY98).

Clonmel, Co. Tipperary first win remembered as jockey Mr Paul Kavanagh is to be laid to rest on Saturday next
Jockey Paul Kavanagh, who recorded his first winner for Enda Bolger at Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, is to be laid to rest this weekend following his tragic death in a road traffic collision on Christmas Eve last. The 20-year-old, of College Green, Tuam; Athlacca, Co. Limerick and formerly of Ballybrone, Corofin, Co. Galway, died after a collision involving a car and a lorry on the N20 in the Bruree area, between 1:40am and 2:15am on Wednesday, December 24th 2025.
In a notice, his family have said their “treasured” son will be “forever loved and missed” by his parents Kevin and Alison, sister Grace and brother Ryan, as well as his wider family, friends, colleagues at Enda Bolger’s yard and the wider racing community.
Funeral arrangements. Mr Kavanagh will be reposing at Grogan’s Funeral Home, Barrack Street, Tuam, on Friday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, followed by removal to his home. Requiem Mass will take place at 11:30am on Saturday in the Cathedral of the Assumption, Tuam, with burial afterwards in Tuam Cemetery.
The family has requested house private, family flowers only, with donations in lieu, if desired, to the Injured Jockeys Fund.
As stated, Mr Kavanagh had been riding out with Mr Bolger in Co. Limerick for the past two years and notched his first winner for the trainer at Clonmel last June, partnering ‘Gimme A Buzz’.
Gardaí confirm that the driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the lorry driver, a man in his 20s was taken to University Hospital Limerick with non-life-threatening injuries. Anyone who travelled on the N20 in the Bruree area between 1:40am and 2:15am is asked to contact investigating gardaí. Road users with camera footage, including dash-cam, are also asked to make it available. Pre-deceased by her beloved husband Mick, daughter Anne-Marie, parents Tom and Katie and brother Philip; Mrs Dooley passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, while in the care of staff at Fennor Hill, Care Facility, Urlingford, Co. Kilkenny.
Her passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her sorrowing family; loving sons Murty, Aidan, Philip, Mikey, daughters Cathy, Caroline, Sinéad and Maria, sons-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchild Max, brothers Neddy, Paddy and Thomas, sister Annie, nieces, nephews, extended relatives, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.

Tipperary, to further repose for Requiem Mass at 11:30am, followed by interment, immediately afterwards, in the Good Shepherd Cemetery, Gortnahoe, Thurles, Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Nora and Patrick; Mr Shanahan passed away peacefully after a long illness most bravely borne.
His passing is most deeply regretted, sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his sorrowing family; loving and devoted wife Bernadette, son Thomas, daughters Noreen and Eileen, son-in-law Eamon, grandson Maitiú, sisters Marian and Mairead, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, extended relatives, neighbours and friends.

Pre-deceased his sisters Maureen, Celia and Pauline and his brother TJ; Mr Caplis passed away peacefully while in the care of staff at Croí Óir, Our Lady’s Hospital, Cashel, Co. Tipperary.
