Former Fianna Road, Co. Tipperary native Mr Sean Ryan informs us this morning, that yesterdays newly elected Pope, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, once served on the board at Cascia Catholic school, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Music lovers will well remember Mr Ryan as the former drummer with the popular Tipperary Celtic Rock band “Tweed”, (lead singer Mr Brendan Ryder). Mr Ryan currently resides in Tulsa, having later became a professional soccer referee in Sand Springs, Tulsa, Oklahoma. His son Kevin, a former White House press corps journalist and correspondent, now works with Blazemedia.

His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, as Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine (2001-2013), visited south Tipperary some 20 years ago (2005), to attend Mass, celebrating 700 years of the Augustinian Abbey Church, in Fethard town.
