Death Of Most Rev. Séamus Freeman, SAC., Bishop Emeritus Ossory Diocese & Late Of Tipperary.

It was with a great sadness that we learned of the death, on Saturday, 20th August 2022, of Most Rev. Séamus Freeman, SAC., Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Ossory, former Rector General of the Society of the Catholic Apostolate, Pallottine Fathers and Brothers; former President of the Union of Catholic Apostolate, UAC; late of Coolaghmore, Callan, Co. Kilkenny; Kilkenny City, and Co. Tipperary.

Pre-deceased by his parents Bridget and James, his sister Maureen and brother Martin; Bishop Freeman passed away peacefully, while in the care of staff at Highfield Healthcare, Dublin, surrounded by family members and close friends.

His passing is most sadly missed by his sisters Esther and Mary, RSM, his brothers Tommy, John and Pat, sisters-in-law Bernie, Catherine and Michelle, his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, his close friends including Frances and Raymond, extended family and neighbours , Most Rev. Denis Nulty, Bishop of Kildare and Leighlin and Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Ossory, Priests, Religious and the Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Ossory, Rev. Father Jacob Nampudakam, SAC, Rector General, his entire Pallottine Family colleagues throughout the world.

Funeral Arrangements.

Reposing in the Pallottine College, Kickham Street, Thurles, Co. Tipperary (Eircode E41 A271), on Wednesday afternoon, August 24th next, from 4:30pm, with prayers at 6:00pm, before being received into the Cathedral of St. Mary, Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny, latter the Mother Church of the Diocese; to arrive at 7:30pm approximately.
Reposing from 10:00am on Thursday morning, August 25th next, in said St. Mary’s Cathedral, concluding with Night Prayer at 9:00pm.

Bishop Seamus’s Funeral Mass will be con-celebrated on Friday, August 26th next, at 12:00 noon, followed by interment in the adjoining graveyard of St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kilkenny City, Co. Kilkenny.

For the many persons who, because of distance or ill health, would wish to participate in the funeral Mass for Bishop Seamus; same may do so online HERE.

[NB: Due to C-19 virus fears; those attending will continue to observe strict adherence to social distancing, face covering, with no hand shaking.]
