This evening, the Department of Health has confirmed that zero death have been caused by Covid-19 in Ireland over the last 24 hours. These latest figures leave the total number of deaths caused by this pandemic at 1,735.

This evening, it has also been confirmed that an additional 24 new cases of the virus have been identified, bringing the total since conception, here in the Republic of Ireland, to 25,462.

Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan has expressed serious worries regarding a new trend of cases of the virus rising in Ireland, as well as a number of new clusters.

He continues to urged young people to act responsibly, as the country enters a new phase today, in its battle with the virus. “Hand washing, physical distancing, cough/sneeze hygiene and wearing face coverings are important personal behaviours that mean, as we go about our daily lives, that we are doing everything we can to avoid contracting the virus and spreading it to those we love,” said Dr Holohan.

Please make the effort to act responsibly and stay safe.
